break actions

I don't own one but due to their size and weight I kind of like break actions. Has any one used one for long range hunting? If so what brand and what kind of accuracy can you get from one?

not much response here. It is possible but it is a long road with a high learning curve. Most of us shoot bolt guns. I have been down this road with an encore just to see if i could do it. It will hold MOA consistent but took a ton of time, and a good but of reading and money. Certainly not my go to rig but can be done. Do a search for mike bellm tc. All the information you care to read on this.

+1 on the Mike Bellm, he's the go to guy for Encore gear.
I have a 7-08 that I have done some work to, trigger job and hinge pin tightening. It shoots really well and is my go to rifle for rugged country. Nice and light. Great for deer and hogs. The trigger is every bit as smooth as my Jewel triggers.
I recently bought a 6.5x284 barrel but didn't realize it was a straight tube until to late. Shoots good but too heavy to pack.
I think the potential is there for some good accuracy and they are certainly are lighter than a bolt action.

I bought the first Encore I ever saw, still shooting it. It is possible to get good results but with the 2 piece stock and the springy action EVERYTHING is critical. I know consistency is important in any long range shooting but the Encore takes it to a whole new level. A minute difference in forend pressure or a tiny shift in the grip will result in a flier. I can actually shoot better groups with an Encore in pistol configuration than with a rifle stock.

It's easier with a bolt gun, IMHO

I put an encore together, and love it! I do have a custom fullbull fluted barrel chambered in 7mm stw, and some custom stocks (forend is pillar bedded) I'm still working on some loads but she's deffinately a shooter. I do have a trigger job and the 1x oversized hinge pin from mike as well.
