Has anyone had a chance yet to try out the new Leupold Mark 8..... 3.5-25X56 with 35mm tube??? Not real fond of the price tag on them, $3,200 is alot to come up with when there are so many other great scopes that are almost half that price.

I have seen one its very nice but I agree the price is nuts. If you know or are a police officer or military member you can get them to get it for you, at about 40% off. Here is the link.

Leupold Tactical Fed/Mil Program · Leupold

Does that program apply to all Leupold scopes?

I have a good friend who is on the Federal Level...

I could have saved a bundle on my Mark4's.... Oh well.

Mostly their tactical line! Some rangefinders, binoculars, spotting scopes also included. There are terms and conditions which go along with the purchase under this program.

I went and looked. I suspect the 'offered items' are limited and who knows what or how they identify a person as being a ligitimate LE.

I also suspect that the New Mark8 isn't an offered item but I'll find out. I'm going to give my friend a call tomorrow. We do 'stuff' back and forth often so I don;t think it's a big deal and knowing him as well as I do, I don't think he will either.

Suffice to say, if I could get one at 40 off list that would probably put it in line with dealer pricing minus 10 estimating the markup on Leupold hardware. I'm not in the firearm accessory business but typically suggested retail versus dealer cost is in the 30-45% range on hardgoods.

At retail, it's in the realm of an S&B, high end Zeiss or March. That is tough company for Leupold to compete in.

I don't understand the marked increase in optics pricing. Raw materials arent climbing and world unrest is pretty stable. Maybe Leupold knows something we don't.

They will validate who you are. Its easy for mil you just contact them from your AKO mail address. I got my Mk4 M5 right when they first came out through this program. The Mk8 is on the list as well as the Mk6 I have a few buddy's who have also used this program.
