hey guys,
I have a question for some of you that shoot with a custom turret, My father has a 300 wsm with a leupold scope. He has one CDS dial system made for PA elevation of 1000 ft, he has it zeroed at 200 yards and shooting dead on.. We are leaving Tomorrow for an elk hunting in Wyoming and will be hunting at 9500 ft. He took off took off his 1000 ft CDS turret and He put on his 2nd CDS turret which is made for 9500 ft with a 200 yd zero, My question is... Will he need to rezero his scope when we get to wyoming at 200 yards. Or (( SHOULD)) it be right on?

Thanks guys.

It will need to be re-zeroed as the rifle is now at zero for 1000 feet and your current barometric pressure it will have to be changed for 9500 feet and the wyoming baro.

My zero has most of the time been dead on coming from Md. 800 to Co. at 7k. But, that gun is traveling a lot of miles bumped and banged around i would always check it before a hunt.

I'm sure you guys are well in-to your hunt, maybe even through with it.. but fwiw, a 200yard zero should not change (regardless of elevation) ..check it, no doubt. But changing from turret to turret, a 200 zero should remain constant.

What he said..... Plus the new turret for 9500 ft is based on a different pressure, which is equivalent to elevation. I have spent too much time this last week becoming more understanding of what this means.
