Was wouldering if you fellas and gals could help me out I would like to put together a list on where to buy scopes. As it is sometimes hard to find onlines stores. I'm personaly looking and wanting to buy a scope soon and this info would help me out greatly. Thx

+10 on Cameraland or any other advertiser here including the forum owner, Len Bakus. Just go to the top of the page and click on 'LRH Store'.

Len has optics and other trinkets......:)

Get a Type 3 C&R FFL and you'll have a tough time not buying anything from Grafs.

Their dealer prices on optics are unbelievable.

The best $30 I ever sent the government.

Widners offers the same discount. I have one as well. Just have to know where to get the correct forms..........:D

Hopefully, you keep good logs....

Not exactly. Actually, once you initiate the application with the BATFE and it's approved. you should under the rules set forth by the BATFE concerning C&R weapons, keep a running log of all purchases and sales if it's weapons or related merchandise notwithstanding.

Never heard of anyone being audited (myself included) but with the government, it's better to be safe than on the receiving end.

So yes, it's a discount coupon at Grafs and Widners and others, but it also has some responsibility as well.

I have mine because I ocassionally work on select fire (machine guns) of WWII and earlier vintage and I also collect C&R weaponry. I've never sold anything vintage but it's all logged just in case.

I can pull the regs if you want me to and post them on here. I didn't want to because it's pretty lengthy and full of legal jargon.

It's necessary to have (in my case) or nice to have in geargrinders case but there is a bit of responsibility involved and it does leave one hell of a paper trail on your part.

At one time I considered a full Class 3 dealer license but the aggrivation is just too much. I don't need the BATFE dropping by unannounced, checking paperwork. It's bad enough paying taxes.

My very good friend and hunting partner is also a gun shop owner and he owns an indoor range as well so I know firsthand just how close the government scrutinizes everything concerned with firearms.

I have to put in another plug for Len and LRH Online. We all use his forum and he sells scopes and related accessories. In the interest of perpetutring this site and Len, it would I feel it would be prudent to give him a shot at selling a scope or related accessories.

I realize Cameraland and others are also on here as paid advertisers but lets not forget Len....

Having read your referenced pages and many others before I got my C&R I will respectfully disagree. I have never yet seen it documented in any form that the log book contain anything other than the firearms (or armor piercing ammo  ) purchased and sold using your C&R license. I just spent time reading the ATF site as well as several other pages to confirm this.

If you know of proof that anything else is needed in the log book please let me/us know.

I'm almost due for my first renewal. In the three years I've only had to log two purchases. Both were Remington 721's that I turned into long range builds.

I made my own forms in Excel.

I'll have to check out Widners.

That's my understanding as well. Only the qualifying firearms as they come into or out of my possession.
