I am looking into getting a digital scale with powder dispensor. Currently I have an RCBS beam scale which does work good. I am looking at the RCBS Chargemaster combo, because the reviews for the Hornady lock N load auto charge and the Lyman 1200 DPS 3 Digital Powder System were not all the great. The RCBS Chargemaster combo had far better reviews on the Cabelas site.
So my question is do any of you guys own one of these scales and is it worth spending the money on a digital scale/powder dispensor combo, or should I just look at the digital scale? How does the RCBS scale work on the bench for you?
Thx

PACT II http://www.midwayusa.com/product/57...precision-powder-dispenser-and-scale-110-volt

Your not going to find a digital scale, dispenser combo that works 100% of the time, a good one will occasionally throw a charge 0.1gr over. But for me being able to seat the bullet as it's throwing the next charge is a big time saver.

I compared my pact II against my beam scale for consistency, throw a charge with the pact, run it across the beam scale, did this for 15min and every charge the pact threw showed +-0.05gr. on the beam scale. I doubt I could realize the difference in the field.

So it sounds like you are very happy with with the Pact II that you have been using? I opened the link that you had there and the price is decent as well. Thx for the info!!!!

if by chance your using a Pact digital scale with the inferred port (all the later ones have this), then all you need is the measuring device itself. The scale they use is the same as the one with the inferred port. You can save yourself a lot of money that way.

Every measurer has it's own set of advantages and you really need to know what they are. The difference in speed so often touted is crap. But the RCBS has a built in memory device that's nice. (is it worth $100? That's the user's call). I've used the RCBS, Lyman, and the Pact, but have never used the Hornaday. Of them the RCBS and Pact are the best. The Pact is much easier to clean out when changing powders (I do often change powders while reloading). Some guys have compaigned out the RCBS not working well with certain kinds of powders, but I never saw it. I also saw no difference in accuracey between the two. Best thing to do is to find somebody that's got the RCBS and somebody else that's got a Pact series two, and try them out. That's what I did.

I've been considering an electronic scale/dispencer as well. I see tha Pact is made inthe USA, a plus. It's out of stock at Mrdway though.

The rcbs chargemaster is worth every penny. Look on 6mmbr.com for a full review of these units.

You had better believe it is. I was having total fits using Varget with my RCNS drop tube....grains getting hung up and having to dump the drop and start again. Not so with the 3000. It dispenses quicker than I can charge the casings and grab the next.

Cant live without it now.

I use a Chargemaster and finish each load with a Sartorious GD503 scale.

Now every load is to within +/- 1 kernal of powder.

I takes a bit longer but i wasn't happy with the "Dispensing Dispersion" of the RCBS. I doubt if the Pact would be any better than the RCBS.

Not trying to sound like a smart *** or implying anything but it would seem to me to be as easy using the old tried and true beam scale and dispensing (no pun intended) with the electronic charge dispenser altogether.

My idea for wanting one is quicker multiple charges of a same equalivent of powder like when I load .223's in bulk. A little drift is permissable. I'm sure not going to feel a bit of load drift, so long as I stay below the maximum charge for a particular caliber, which I do.

I would also think that no automated dispenser made could repeatedly dispence at a kernal graduation and candidly, I don't see how one kernal would make much difference in as much as primers themselves can vary and thats something a reloader can't control because primers are purchased or at least 99% are, bench rest primers not withstanding....

That one percent can scrape match heads all they want to.....:D

And just what is plus or minus ONE KERNAL suppose to give you??? NADA..thats what.?????

They do trickle at 1 kernal intervals...and its interesting to watch it do that.
If you want FAST dumping; accurate dumping and a dammed good scale to boot....go with the 3000
