Just wondering if any of the blokes who received some of these for testing actually shot any game with them? I am considering trying them in a 338 rum. Would the on game performance be similar to the 300 otms?

I sure hope they work good! I just got a load worked up for my 340 weatherby with them. I hope to be able to awnser that guestion this fall! I will try them on deer, elk, and maybe a bear if abig one will come in on one of my baits.gun)

I may go to them as well. I have been shooting the 300 SMK but am almost out, and having a high B.C bullet that fits the mag is sure appealing. Or I can just get a Wyatts installed and be done with it.

Thanks for the replies fellas but just saw Eric's post about the new 250 gn hunting due out in a few weeks so will probably give those a go

Wyomingblizzard, just out of curiosity, what load did you come up with for the 340?
I've been trying to develop one for my 340 with the 250.

It has been a test will to find a load that would shoot the way I wanted. Finaly found 92.8 grain of H1000, with the col of 3.880. This makes it a single shot and it is still around .150 from lands. I am still doing drop verification, so I dont have a validated mv yet, my chrony shows 2930. This load is very warm, shows pressure at 93.5, so start low and work up.I tried sevral powders and could not find a node. imr4831,h4831sc,imr7828,ram shot mag, evan tried faster powder h4350. Targets looked like I was patering my skeet gun! With all of the weatherby freebore it was hard to get them to shoot. Most all of the powders tried showed best group, no matter how bad it still was, just below pressure singns. This is by far the most trouble I have ever had working a load for any gun! gun)

Yes, wyomingblizzard, I know EXACTLY what you mean about trying to find a load for it. I've told myself, "I can't possibly be that bad of shot." At this point, I'd be thrilled for a one or two inch group. I've had mine bedded, put on a good trigger and had the scope rings drilled and tapped for bigger screws. The one thing i did discover was my scope was not tracking properly so it is on its way back to leupold and so i will be starting all over.

If the cause is the Weatherby free bore why not have a Gunsmith cut off a thread and re-chamber it ?

I have often wondered if it was me, the load, gun or scope! Sounds like we have seen the same problems. My rifle is a factory action and barrel, trigger work, bedded H.S stock. one piece base, burriss xtreem rings, vortex pst scope. I keep rechecking everything. I even went back to my old load, it still shoots 1/2moa out to 1k if i do my job right. The load I m testing now is shooting just under an inch at 100 but is only 1.5 inch at 300. I hope to go a little further out this week. My old load was with 210 barnes, didnt have any trouble working it up.

I had the exact same experience with my .340 Wby. certain stuff shot really, really well, others were all over (like 6" groups). What I thought was weird was that it liked all sorts of bullet wieghts, from 200's up to 250's. The best however were the 210 TTSx-loaded to the mag and 250 SGK's loaded single shot to lands (or free-bore).

Im thinking that If I can get these 250 Bergers to shoot well in my .338 RUM i may take the brake off.

Is this thread about 250's on game or is it a 340 reload seminar? Has anyone tried it on anything yet?
