I was thinking of shorting my barrel from 24 to 22inches.
How short can I cut my barrel before it would adversity affect the velocity For the 300wsm

I've been told that with the new loading available these days that the barrels need not be
that long of yesterday.
Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks Jack

You'll probably lose about 50 fps per inch.

300 WSM is arguably more efficient with shorter barrels than 330 WM.

You may need to redevelop your load. And, if you cut more than that, you may need to try a different powder.

Why on earth why?

+1!
I just had mine built with a 26" pipe! Why on earth would you wanna handi cap your WSM?
Hell, just go buy an -06 & load some 165's over Superformance powder if your gonna cripple the poor Shortmag. It'd be about the same thing.

Of course I don't know your scenario, & you may have a reason..... So, yes, you "can"......but Why?!?

I sure wouldn't. It'd be a waste of free velocity.

Thanks to all for the replys.
It was just a thought, and glad I got some of your input.
It going to stay at 24in.
Thanks Jack
