I like(ed) Marlin Leverguns. I'm particularly interested in the 338 Marlin Express which has great carry characteristics as well as mid range capabilities. The one I bought was pretty bad. After spending some money at the gunsmith to try to get it straightened out, I finally had to send it back. It's functioning now but the taste left in my mouth of how bad it was and the grief it caused in the field still remains. The reason... the Remington people now own and manufacture Marlins. They've taken this particular model/caliber out of production and after talking to Customer Service, have not indicated it will ever return??? I asked... no reason given. It was no more than introduced and they discontinued it. I suppose I understand how they could have problems but this video illustrates Remingtons willingness to flood the market with junk rather than stopping obviously defective units from leaving the plant. My experience is just one of many. Here's a video review from a guy that says it all.

In comparison, you can take a Tikka, made with inexpensive materials, which bears the cost of importing, sold at a very competitive price and make a rifle that returns overwhelming satisfaction from Consumers. What's happened to American Manufacturing or at the very least, Remington?
