Hi Guys,

I've hunted forever, but I'm new to LR shooting, and was looking for someone to tag along with at the range, learn some of the basics for calculating bullet impact (MOA) and so on. I'm in Manheim area.

I have a rifle being built as we speak, but won't likely have it until mid-November. My current rifles have good hunting scopes without turrets.

Thanks!

Dan.

I didn't read this until now so I apologize for that. What type of hunting are you looking to tag along with? Summer groundhog shooting or fall deer hunting? Or whatever? I'm not that close but not really that far either.

Joel, I'm in Lititz, next town east from Manheim and I'd like to get under that wing if it suits you guys.

I'm not shooting anything custom, but the load I'm using now groups three under 3/16" at 100 yards. I don't feel that's very difficult, but I'm looking to do some longer shooting and groundhogs would be fun. Rifle is primarily for deer hunting.

I just sent my application in for Penn Dutch as they go out to 400 yards.

My brother in law and I are going out to Stewartstown in August for a groundhog shoot with DennisPA on the 19th.

Hi guys. Sorry I haven't checked this thread in a while! I'll pm you guys when I'm back at my PC. On a business trip and replying on mobile at the moment. I'd love to meet up. I'm not looking to make you drag me along hunting, but rather just get in on some LR range time. I'm slammed until about october (wedding, honeymoon and other bothersome, time consuming activites) but I'd love to get out this fall. In late oct I should have my rifle, which is:

338 rum
Stiller action
26 inch Benchmark SS fluted #5
Kdf muzzle brake
McMillan A3 Sporter stock
Jewell trigger
Nightforce 5.5-22x50 w/ zero stop on ultralight rings

Don't let your bride to be see the line in red in the same sentence as "wedding and honeymoon."

Sounds like a nice build. Who's doing the work for you?

Haha she would know I'm only kidding abou the wedding and honeymoon, but would wholeheartedly agree that everything leading up to the big day is bothersome and time consuming.

Butcher's Bullistics in Thompson Falls Montana is doing the build.

Sweet...are you a member at Manheim or Elstonville? If not, where are you joining to stretch the legs on that rifle?

I'm a member at Manheim but they only go to 200. Elstonville might go to 300 but I forget. I'm lucky to know about every farmer in rapho and penn townships on a first name basis, so finding a spot to run out to about 800 is not a problem. I have a few spots in mind.

I will shamelessly ask to tag along some time. :D

Been to the Bull's Head or Appalachian Brewing in Lititz? If you're into beers that aren't Bud, Miller, or Coors, you'll have to check it out. First beer is on me.

Yeah, I've been to Bull's Head once. Got tuned off of just a few beers in there. Some pretty hi-octane stuff, but very good. I'll take you up on the offer. You don't happen to know a big guy named Doug Gxxxxxch, do you? He's a regular in there with alot of connection in the shooting industry.

As far as the getting out to shoot, I'd love to. Some great spots for LR groundhog hunting. But I'd be kidding myself if I said I was gonna make it out yet this season.

What town are you in?

Check your PMs

Can I buy a vowel?

I wouldn't consider myself any more than a novice when it comes to Wheel of Fortune puzzles.

I'd be happy with just getting a range at this point. Bull's Head has some good stuff, as does another place in Township at the intersection of Oregon Pike and Landis Valley Road.

I just didn't think he'd appreciate me dropping his name on here. If you've met him, you'd know who I mean by "Big Doug." He's a Benelli rep that hangs out in there.

I'm in Manheim, where are you?
