Why ZERO search results for "STW" in guns FS, or parts FS forums?

After the bubble just got burst on my "aspirations" for going savage 7 RUM, I thought OK, how about I just throw some used STW barrel on the savage action for the time being (get some brass & dies, also). And then I'll take my time finding a suitable remington 7 RUM barreled action or complete rifle. But when my searches of the guns and parts classifieds for the term STW didn't return JACK, now I'm right back to stressing again. Is this really another dead end that I just ran into again so soon?

Use the google search in the top right corner

Well, I just did pick up on a lead that I will be chasing down tomorrow, for a 300. But at this stage in the game, I'm taking NO chances! At least then I WILL HAVE something to hang a 7RUM barrel off of. So unless that deal falls through (god, please forbid that from happening), it does effectively end my search for anything STW for now. I would still "consider" switching my 7RM over to STW though. But since that won't be high on my priority list if I do get the RUM, I would probably have to stumble upon a great deal on an STW barrel, that I just couldn't refuse, for it to happen. I do appreciate the reply though. Thanks.

OK, I DID just try the google search for the hell of it. But the problem that I WOULD have had IF I still wanted to see what STW stuff was available for sale here, is that the search only does the WHOLE site. Without being able to narrow the search down to individual forum categories, there would have been WAY too many results to be able to feasible look through, with the vast majority of them NOT being in the categories that I wanted.

Reason could be that the stw has a bit of a cult following. It doesnt appeal to everyone but most of us who have one love it so much that were not going to part with it.

Oh, I have one. I just had my 7stw out today. Built on a lh rem 700 action.

Me too! I got a hold of used (just a few rounds through her) heavy sporter barrel off a Savage 116 SS small shank with MB, 50 prepped shells, and Lee dies set. Will be putting on a 111F when I get the opportunity ... will be joining the brotherhood.

BTW, got the above parts from an LRH member who posted it on classifieds.lightbulb

I've heard of people buying STW chamber reamers and upgrading their lesser-chambered 7 barrels to STW. I've always assumed that reaming meant lathe action. But since I'm no smith (just a big dummy, I guess), I don't know that for sure. Is reaming-up a chamber to fit a larger size case something that someone WITHOUT a lathe could do?

I'd personally have a smith use a lathe on it. Otherwise, it's a bit of a crap-shoot as to whether you are getting a straight, round chamber. You might be alright, but you might not.

OK, then. It's doable, but it looks like the odds of screwing it up would be pretty high. I'll just let it stay as it is then (7RM). Got lots of THAT brass, anyways.
