Some of you have contacts in the reloading industry and what I want to know is if anybody is planning to make 7mm wsm brass other than winchester ? The last bag of winchester brass I got ( 308win ) I had to throw away 5 that didn't fit the shell holder and most had oval primer pockets and were dented all up. Lapua in my dreams or norma . Any quality maker? I am only going to buy 1 bag now and see if someone else comes through with some good brass.

Buy some Norma 300 WSM brass and neck them down. I guess you could also neck up some Norma 270 WSM brass if you prefer.
It's not just sizing them. The shoulder is longer so they have to be fire formed too. I may go that way after I see how bad the bag of winchester brass is. The winchester may be fine and I'm worried adout nothing. Anybody sorted a new bag of 7mm wsm brass lately? How was it?

The Winchester 7WSM is horrible, I also have 3-5 culls per bag due to malformed necks and just shoddy manufacture, but with some time truing up the flash holes and getting it sorted out, it shoots very well for me. I wished there was another choice, but it isn't so horrible I can't deal with it. It does seem to last a long time if you anneal it and don't run them terribly hard. Good luck with it.

Not that I have seen. It is tough brass, but you spend some time making it straight. I have gotten alot of use out of Win brass, but I am prepared to spend alot of time making it right. It does hold up really well in all three of my WSM's. I haven't ever lost a primer pocket in one of them and since I started annealing them, they work well.

I would love to get my hands on some Nosler brass for the 7WSM! Even then, I wouldn't need to do all of the prepping and such. For now, I guess I can suffer with the old WW hulls. Seems like someone should come out with something, the 7WSM seems like it is a good LR round and used in a fair amount of competition.

I've got some Federal 7 WSM brass at the bench but haven't taken a good look at it yet. Like everyone else, I have been working with the Winchester brass which is easy to get. It's cheap enough that I really don't mind the culls which I use for "barrel fouling" rounds after a good bore cleaning.
Got a 7WSM barrel on order so this thread interest me.
When the WSMs first came out I used 270wsm brass from Norma and Winchester for a 6.5WSM that never did work for me.
The Norma brass was consistant, uniform and expensive.
The Winchester brass was tuff, cheap and easier to come by.
Have always had a problem keeping the primer pockets tight on Federal brass....Ya I know dont load them hot but that is not always the case.
If Nosler brass is just weight sorted Federal, why bother?

If I didn't have a 270 and 300WSM, I would go the Norma route, but since I already have the other two around, I don't wanna start mixing up brass.

Last bag of Winchester WSM brass I got had 2 cases that wouldn't fit the shell holder, I called Winchester and bitched about it and they sent a call tag for the brass, I sent it back and they sent me a $20.00 coupon for Winchester stuff. Not a bad deal I suppose but it really should at least fit the shell holder.
This was the first problem I have ever had with Winchester.
