I have a 7.08 Rifle I have had for over 30 years. (yes I know old but not quite an antique yet (unlike it's owner) It has been my Coues Deer rifle and backpacking/ high country rifle for all those years, and I don't know anything about it's history.

The barrel is a custom barrel marked 7.x308 Rem. I searched and found the "7mm308" was a wildcat developed in 1958, and in 1980 Remington put their name on the cartridge naming it 7.08 Rem.
It is built on a Mohawk 600 action with a modern style Rem bolt and safety. I am attaching a few photos, any idea of when it was made? or any other info would be great,

Built by Remington from 72 - 79. Short barreled light weight rigs. Could have been turned into a custom by anyone. Nice rifle.
