My first bolt action rifle and I know I have tons to learn for you all! I hope an old dog can still learn some new tricks. Just added a Leupold Mark IV 4.5-14X50 TMR M1 scope. Have yet to get out and fire her], but it seems like an awesome weapon.

Thanks. Waiting for Sightmark green laser magnetic laser bore sight and Bore Tech bore guide, rod and cleaning gear to properly "season" barrel. I have read many differing opinions about the latter. My son and I just plan to use her on targets. To save ammo costs, I plan to get the 308 conversion kit when it becomes available, but that my be a year or two. The ranges near our house only go to 600-1000 yards, but after some experience with her, I would like to go to some classes in Raton, NM to put her through her paces at greater distances! She's built like a tank and makes my AR feel like a 22 cal. and I haven't even fired her yet! We may try to start reloading, but that seems like a whole other project.

Great rifle. You will enjoy. What range can you get to 1000 near Scottsdale?

The Ben Avery Range has 1000 yard competitions, but you need to belong to a club or organization to participate, according to their website. Usary Pass and Phoenix Rod and Gun Club have 500 yard max and there's an annual membership fee with the latter. Got the 338, since that's the highest caliber they'll let you shoot at the public ranges. Lots of open desert to shoot in, but restricted at this time due to fire danger.

Got ya, yes you need to make arrangements at Ben Avery and be a member of the 1000 yard club. Was wondering if there was a new spot I was unaware of.

Thanks.

Wow! Super nice, post how well the rifle shoots.

Just got her cleaned last night with new Bore Tech cleaning package. Waiting for boresight, so probably won't get to the range and shoot for 3-4 weeks. I'll get some more pictures and let you know how accurate she is,at least at 100 and possibly 200 yards.:)

Hi,
Niceeeee rifle. I know a 1600 yard spot 1.5 hrs north of PHX. Would like to show you where. I have a 7MM & 30-06. Also have desert targets and a wireless camera set up and spotter as a back up. Contact me.

Been gathering all the gear and practicing, since this is my first LR rifle. Even purchased a custom 308 for cheaper practice. MRAD easily shooting 0.75 MOA groups at 100 and 200 yards. Rifle much better than the shooter. Would like to stretch her out in a month or 2 and it sounds like you have found a good spot and my son and I always like to get together with other shooters. You can contact me at [email protected] and maybe we can plan to get together for some distance shooting in the future.

Nice rifle!!! How are you shooting with her now that you have had it for a while? I got mine about 2 years ago serial number 41 and I love mine!!

Originally I put a Leupold M4 w/ Barrett Bors system on it. I was worried that I would want more glass on it and I was right so I put the Leupold/Bors on one of my Remington VTR's and put to a Nightforce NXS 8-32x56mm on the MRAD and have been much happier with it.

With right out of the box Hornady Match ammo I am getting 6" groups at 1100 yards consistently (and I am not the best shot either) and have taken animals close to those ranges. I just got permission from the landowner 3 farms down from mine to shoot down the high-tension wire break onto my rifle range for distances out to 2000 yards and beyond.. I will hopefully get a crack at it tomorrow!

Just need to work out a good reload for her. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! I have an AAC Titanium QD for it as soon as my ATF transfer is in!!! Let me know how you are doing with yours and if you have any questions for me. I have put a thousand or better rounds through mine so far..If your ever in SE Indiana and wanna shoot just holler at me!!
