Affording Health Care and Firearms Ownership

With vindication of the Obama's Affordable Health Care Act by the Supreme Court, it only seems logical the next step for the federal government will be to regulate "health risks" to manage those health care costs. I am sure that any number of "independent" surveys will be published related to statistics showing firearms ownership in the home raises the likelihood of accidental (and otherwise) shootings.

Do not be surprised if the American Left begins the push to regulate firearms ownership under the auspices of mitigating "health risks". It will come with the same language as regulation of fatty fast food, foods sweetened with sugars and meal portion sizes.

Absolutely nothing suprises me anymore.

Our country has become all about ptotecting yourself from yourself, instituted and administrated by the central government because the population don't have the intellegence or the common sense to do it themselves (in their opinion) and to which I disagree, for the most part.

There is a sizeable segment in this country that relies totally on the government to make decisions and to provide daily sustenance...... The public assistance people.

But then, most of those people don't own firearms and if they do, they are used to commit crimes against the rest of society.....

I rest my case.....

To believe in the "individual mandate" one must first believe that addict prostitutes, and petty thief junkies will work late to come up with health care money. With something like 40+% of the population not paying taxes the added IRS agents will not be assigned to squeezing blood from that turnip. The country has lost almost a third of their ER's in the last decade. Seven burn units closed in the last year as meth addict/cookers make up a significant number of the patients. Shifting these nonpayers to the surviving institutions puts those institutions at risk, and "rationing" is achieved without ever using that bad word. Substantial numbers of ICU beds are being occupied by polysubstance abusers. There is a reason the true cost of this debacle is being implemented after this years election. Talks of nationalizing retirements have resumed.

New gun control laws won't be needed if we are to broke to play this game anymore!

I've said elsewhere (not on this forum or site) that elections are made or broken not on credentials of the electee but on the amount of 'free cheese' the electee can generate for the free cheese eaters, in other words the 40 or so percent that contribute nothing and just take............

I am still SHOCKED that he even got elected in the first place !! I knew he was blowing smoke and I watched his campaigne run with it. You know who I seen come out of the wood works those that holler raceism all the time . Thats right! They made up a big part of his voters. They where registering by the bookoos. The Clintons used that tactic and it bit them in the hiney !!! Too bad we are all haveing to pay the price . Ask your self this , how many troops has he brought home ?????? Do we still have men and women over seas ?? Afghanistan ? Irac ?? Yes Mr Obama bin Laden was going to save the day ! I can lay my head down tonight because, I didnt vote the non saluting president into office (Non American is what he is)

I have a thread running concurrently on this sub forum about the proposed UN arms treaty.

Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton are poised to sign on, on July 27th. If ratified by Congress, this forum and many others will cease to exist because firearm ownership by citizens will become illegal and the Second Amendment as it pertains to an indiviruals roght to bear arms will no longer apply.

What hapopened to Kelly MAcMillan is childs play compared to what is about to occur.

Mr. Obama has been very low key about gun control, even though he is adamately against citizens owning firearms (as evidenced by his appointment of Erik Holder as AG and his friendship with Rahm Emanuel).

The UN treaty will give him the power to remove firearms from the public under the guise of the United Nations.

How convenient.

Candidly, I'm not at all. people knew this country was heading in a decidedly downward spiral and Obama promised 'hope and change' and Obama appealed to the younger, more gullible segment of society plus the African Americans, the Hispanics and the free cheese crowd.

McCain and Palin didn't have what it took, McCain still don't.

He had to win, He had the chrisma and the speaking talent plus no one could say anything even remotely against him because the 'race card' was immediately waived. How to you dissect a candidate if you can't dissect his faults and if the media collectively decides that everything except positive events are off limits.

He had to win beyond any doubt.

Hopefully, this time around, enough people have had enough amaterusih acting and failed foreign policy plus a stagnant economy and a regime tossing money away like a drunken sailor and constantly abusing the Constitution, that enough people will vote the other candidate, not that Rommney is the 'holy grail' of candidates, because he isn't, but he is exponentially better that Obama.

You have to completely disregard the media and what they say and print first off and decide on your gut reaction to the last 4 years. Ignore the polls, the newspaper, the radio, forget Hannity and Limbaugh (paid entertainers anyway, nothing more...). Vote with your heart and vote using what you've seen and experienced, not what your are told by someone else.

People, in general, in this country need to become what we were 100 years ago, independent thinkers.

Passing unread bills in the middle of the night! For or against the end product, for or against this President. This is the kind of politics that should frighten everyone! The Republicans just ran the dumbest campaign I've seen. Instead of cutting each other up an empty podium (or full if President Obama wished to attend) should have been present, and the policies as they exist should have been debated.

Mostly for unless the Republicans manage to block passage.

A government run by 'we the people' for the people and by the people is long gone, replaced by a government run for individual gain and agendas.

One thing that really upsets me is the media is really the only source of information and they should report that in an unbiased manner, which, they can't seem to do.

July 27 is the day Hilliary and Barak sign the treaty in New York at the UN building. If ratified by the Senate the treaty's language will supercede the Second Amendment and that's the end of the fun with guns, basically any venue catering to the sport (like this forum), the over counter sales of ammunition, the list goes on.....

We will be like Germany where the military and the police have the guns and the citizens can have ONE sporting firearm after wading through a mountain of paperwork and government scrunity. One long gun. No pistols and no assualt type (I hate that terminology) weapon like an AR.

Sounds like fun don't it???

I find it amazing that this is all being done in the name of "doing what is best for the people".......

I am completely convinced that the "Fast and Furious" scheme was an attempt to poison the well against firearm dealers and set the stage for more stringent laws regarding the purchase of said (i.e. The same strategy proposed in dealing with coal-fired power plants: Oh yeah, you can build your plant, if only you could afford the permits, regulations, restrictions, etc.). The one fly in the ointment (for the Obama administration) is that the plan blew up in their faces and our people were killed.

The tactics are always the same for the committed left, only the venue changes.

A large part of the population today has adopted a 'head in the sand' attitude concerning anything political.

It's easy to understand why/ We are living in very unstable times both from a government standpoint and a financial one. Many People are more concerned with just paying the mortgage, affording gas for the jalopy and putting some wholesome food on the table and not worrying about 'what if'.

People need to understand that what transpires on the Beltway today, directly impacts them in 3 months or 5 months or a year or more (like Obamacare for instance).

They need to realize that sweetheart deals and political manuvering as well as politicians that don't have their constitutients best interests in mind will have a direct and negative impact on those people (with heads in sand) at some point.

Better to be pro-active than reactive.

Don't think the UN Arms Treaty has a chance in hell of getting ratified by Congress. Not a single Democrat in the Western half of the country would ever get re-elected. They value their useless jobs too much.

I sincerely hope so.

Forcing me to turn in my firearms under a UN treaty agreement and trash my Second Amendment rights would most likely put me in the newspaper, on the front page.....gun)

The telling thing about this and the Obama care fiasco is just how far a President will go to effectuate his (or her) agenda if, in fact, is popular or not or if it is what the people want.....

Let us all hope that the next 4 years will be Obamaless. Like 4 years ago, he's making promises and pie-in-the-sky claims that can't be substantiated nor will they ever come to fruition. Hopefully, the majority of voters can recognize a repeat performance built on smoke and mirrors.

Fingers crossed here.

Candidly, I don't believe we can take another 4 years, economy wise, let alone inane legislation.

Looks like the UN Arms Treaty is a dead duck! Just got an NRA-ILA flash. 51 Senators sent a petition to Obama stating anything effecting the 2nd Amendment would not pass.
