Hi,
I'm new this forum. I am looking at three guns. #1 CZ 550 Varmint in a .308 and the other is a Model 700 SPS Tactical in a.308 and a Tikka T3 Super Varmint in .308.
I would like a new bolt action tack driver out to 400 +++ yards.
Need some help or I will just buy on looks and hope I pick the best out of the group.

I shoot a Armalite AR10T with a Leopold Patrol 1.25 X 4 VX-R scope and it is dead on at 100 yards or closer. With my Bushnell Elite 3200 6x24 I have no problem to go out to 300 yards. I know it can go longer but I can't hold it steady.
I'm sure the same will happen with the bolt action, but I would like to have a nice bolt action gun.

Any info would be appreciated.
John

I have a cz 550 in 308 and it is hands down the best factory rifle i have ever owned will consistantly shoot 1/4 inch groups at 100 and out to 800 yards it is dead on i had a badger ordanance break installed and a little trigger work done and it is awesome hands down would be my pic of the three only didadvantage is lack of aftermarket parts _

I like the CZ 550 it is in stock. I would have to order the other. If I can't see the other guns I will get the CZ.

I have a 700 REM milspec special in the 308. Has the HS precision stock and stainless action and barrel. I have gotten consistent less than .3 moa at 300 yards with nosler 165 bt and Varget.
Just started to shoot at a 1000 yard course and switched to the 168 vld hunting bergers. Mark 4 20 moa base and Mark 4 6-20-50 mildot scope. Bergers shoot about 5 moa flatter than the noslers at 1000 yards with the same powder charge. My gun is stock nothing done except adjusting the trigger some. I've read some reviews on the sps tactical and see that they shoot well also. Of course I'm sure any thing with a heavy 308 barrel will shoot lights out within reason. Enjoy shopping.

I can not comment on the cz but I own and shoot tikka, remington, and savage. All are great rifles and serve there intended purposes equally well. But the only rifle I have and shoot regularly that is still 100% box stock is my T3 tactical. After 564 rounds down the tube I still haven't thought of anything that needs to be changed or upgraded. Good luck to you on your purchase.

Any of the above would work well for you. If it were me though I'd go with .260 rem instead of .308 however.

Faster, flatter, and lots of great high BC bullets in the 120-140gr range by a multitude of manufactuers for every application you can think of.

Also you have the advantage of even less recoil with the .260 vs .308.

For me one of the key factors in varmint hunting is velocity and the .308 simply cannot compare with the .260 for velocities. More often than not, for me varmint shots come down to split seconds and even a fraction less flight time can help make the difference between a hit and a miss or a clean kill vs wounding.

Someone over at Sniper's hide has a Sako varmint model in .260 listed that I'd absolutely love to have if I could figure out a way to get it bought right now.

Have not shot the AR10 much but if its like its smaller sibling the AR15 I would buy a different calibar bolt gun.
They tend to not like to share brass and the scope hieghts and accurate velocities are seldom close enough to really interchange range #s

Out of the 3 listed #1 CZ,hands down, #2 Tikka, #3 SPS tactical. There are better options between the CZ and SPS, Savage 10 FCP-SR, FCP-K, FCP-HS, 12 FVSS or VLP DBM, Weatherby Vanguard S2 varmint, Remington 700 5R milspec, Mossberg ATR varmint/tactical, i'd put any of those ahead of the SPS tacical. As for your listings the CZs are very accurate, in the top 5 altogether out of the box IMO.

I would look at the at the savage in 6.5x284. They are very good out of the box and the 6.5x284 is one of the very best at long range. The last thing I would buy is the Remington. They are making junk these days.

I have the SPS Tactical in .308. I absolutely love that gun. I shoot Honady AMAX rounds out of it and consistently shoot below .5MOA. I will say I did upgrade the stock to Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist Style 3 w/ "Hook". I was not fan of the Hogue stock. That would be my vote.

I will look at the Savage guns. I have one now that I don't shoot because it expensive and I don't have the range where I live now. It is a Savage 110 BA .338 Lapua.
The CZ looks like a good choice and the Savage 10 FCP-SR ( not sure of the stock color ) but the 10 FCP-K may work.
When shopping for a gun it's the hunt not the kill. So many to choose from.
