Packed the gear and headed to Thunder Valley Precision Range in Ohio for a Mile match on Saturday. My "good" friends that I shoot with taunted me for weeks to defend my title at this range. No sweat, I'm always up for some good competition.
The area where the range is located had a tornado touch down on Friday night. They had 100 mph winds, and all the devastation that goes along with a tornado. Surprisingly, the range didn't suffer much physical damage, but the conditions on Saturday were all but hateful to shoot through.
I shot my old girl, Eleanor, and she came through for me again... She's chambered in an improved version of the .338-.408, aka Big Baer, and has always shot well for me at this range. We had a tough time with the conditions throughout the day, but that's what makes it challenging. Who wants to shoot in perfect conditions...
I managed to shoot a 12.800" group, which was the best for the day. Not too many shooters were able to get all five shots on paper, even with the 300 and 340 grain boolits..

Took my friend Glen Abernathy along to shoot some 1,000 yard targets. He never shot 1,000 yards on paper before, and was delighted with this killer 3.80" group and 50 score from his 6x47 Lapua.
