I am going out tomorrow to play with a new 300 win. My last one ran at 3130 with 185 hybrids and my new beasty was throated around the 190's and has a 34" pipe I have no exsperience with a barrel over 30" I don't exspect more than 15-18fps per inch am I on par or should I see something different??

Yep, horrible harmonics unless you have a 1.250" straight tube.

shot it today and its a tac-driver. around 100-125 faster than my 30" barrel.

Just depends on the barrel. Some are fast, some are slow and some are average. I have one incredible 300 winchester shooting a 180 grain bullet over 3300 fps with a listed loading manual load and no pressure, crazy.

You might try some Reloader-17.I got 3220fps in my 26" barrel 300 Win. Mag with 72.5grs of Reloader-17 and a 180gr Speer Deep Curl bullet.Groups in the 1/2" range.

I'm not knocking your decision on barrel length, just hope its fat or your using a sleeve for support. I know its kinda like a ford vs chevy thing, but 3250 with a 190 I consider a mild load in my short throat 300wbys, I can do it with Imr4350, one is a 28" the other a 30". I figured with that much barrel you would be trying 215-240grn pills and a bunch of retumbo or H1000. You might want to check into the weatherby next go round, I sometimes hunt with the 28" barreled one and it shoots 208 amaxs at 3160 with H1000 and right at 3110 with 4831sc, just a thought.

Take a look at Reloader 25, shooting a 200gr smk out of prepped win brass, 215M primers
getting 3010 - 3040fps with a 24.5 barrel which is a Steyr rifle SBS Hunter....
Goes subsonic around 1700 yards, and the BC is just about the same for the 200gr SGK
which all come up data work for hunting at long range shots 500-700 yards....

Why will it have horrible harmonics?

Whatever the barrel's resonant frequency is, its harmonics and resonant frequency will be identical for every shot fired with the same load. Only their amplitude will vary with how hot the load is, but the frequency and direction will be exactly the same for each and every shot.

Why? The barrel has the same shape and metalurgy for every shot fired; it doesn't change. And heat doesn't change that until the barrel melts into a liquid.

I am aware the harmonics will be the same, **** is everyone a freaking rocket scientist, just because they are idental from shot to shot doesn't mean ****, bad harmarnic resonance is bad harmonic resonance, and it takes far less things around to effect it, especially if the diameter is decreasing as it gets longer. I wonder why pencil barrel walk up again?

I guess I don't know what "bad harmonic resonance" is, so please explain. I ain't no rocket scientist, but knowing that a given barrel whips, vibrates, wiggles, exactly the same way for each shot for a given load is good enough for me and mechanical engineers working in vibration analysis professions. And lots of competitive shooters feel the same way. If they didn't wiggle the same for each shot, they wouldn't shoot very accurate.

I've never had a problem with any barrel, regardless of weight, taper or shape, walking up or any other directions. They've all shot to point of aim within 3/10ths MOA through 1000 yards going from ambient temperature for 20 to 30 shots fired 20 to 30 seconds apart.

And no, since I expected a smart *** reply, a given piece of metal does not react the same every time after a certain length. Go ahead, get a 4ft barrel that tapers from 1.25 to .675" and see how it acts, I'll still se shooting with my buddys and all of our 3-400 26-30" barrels instead of arguing with you.

I've only seen one 300 win that will come anywhere near that speed on a 180. That was a ruger #1 with a 26" barrel running compressed charges of retumbo. It bucked like a mule too.
3150 fps is about it with a 180 in 24-26" barrels. You might get another 100-150 fps at 30", but only if your powder is slow enough to take advantage of the length. You need to look at the book velocity as a speed limit also, and if you are significantly over on speed without a longer than usual barrel to add some of it, you are over pressure.
