Ok, everyone
here is a long range shoot much like what i did at the Sportsman's Challenge here in eastern wa, but this will be held at Killgore Adentures on the Salmon river just outside of White bird, ID.

This shoot will be held Labor day weekend the 1st,2nd and 3rd of September

There is a campground on the shore of the Salmon river that has some full RV hookups and then dry camping spots for tents and/or campers. on the campground there is showers and restroom facilities. Also in the area there is hotels and other lodging facilities in the area with Riggins, Grangeville and White bird being the closest to the event.

The shoot will be have two courses (big and small game). For the small game course you will have 20-25 minutes to shoot all the targets. The big game course will be split up in half with the amount of targets so barrels can cool and to keep the weather changes fair for the majority, so if there are 14 big game targets we will shoot the first 7 and run the whole list of shooters through and then once the list is complete we will start them all over again shooting the next 7 targets. this will also keep people more involved with less waiting time in between shooting times. On the big game course time will vary depending on how many people will be shooting, but most likely there will be about 15 minutes to shoot your 7 targets. if there is a large amount of people who show up to shoot we may have two people on the firing line shooting at a time, but with some space between them. At the beginning of the shoot there will be an allotted time so that everyone will be able to range and sketch the targets, helping you when you get up to the firing line.

small game: big game:
all steel wood frames w/ steel vitals
Ranges 150-550 yards 500-1000 yards

- You will be able to have a partner with you while you are on the line to help with ranging and calling out drop information
- small game calibers .308 caliber and smaller excluding all magnum cartridges.

for more match information and registration go to: Sportsman's Challenge - Home and look at the course of fire/ rules

registration would be appreciated through the sportsman's challenge website

Thinking that if the match takes all of one day which I am sure it will, then the next day maybe we can take a couple targets and get them set out at some ranges from 1000 to maybe 15 or 1600 yards and we could shoot our best shot on a certain target for a gift certificate or if you guys wanted to do some side bet or something we could do that too. Maybe you guys who are trying to get in to some 1000 yard clubs or just want to practice so you could make a coyote kill past a 1000 then we could set some out there for you.

That sounds Awesome!
I'm booked this year with birthdays, anniversary, bear season, & weddings in August, & September, but if it becomes an annual thing where a guy can plan ahead I'm in for next year!!

Maybe post this under General discussion, or Long range shooting section for more exposier. Not many read this section.
Good Luck with the shoot!

thanks for the advice winmag, ill do that

Looking forward to this shoot, I've made my resv. at killgore. I was down there for the atv hells canyon ride on memorial weekend and took my lieca rangefinder and did some inclination readings and got one from snake river up the side of a cliff of 42 degrees inclination, talk about steep. This sounds like it might give shooters an excellent chance at getting some up and down hill shooting practice. Plus having the small game targets there it will give some practice time for the up coming Hannah Bates Rockchuck shoot, get the old rifles tuned back up. Hopefully some of those southern idaho guys can make it up there, they are a blast to shoot with, you boise guys reading this how about some friendly waigers. Lookin forward to seeing you all there.

I got your name on the list and I have a shirt for you. Looking forwars to meeting you at the shoot. Hoping we get.some live music for dinner saturday night. Should be.some good food fun shoot, great people.

Caleb, This is a 3 day shoot? Can you explain that a little why 3 days?

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,
It's not really a three day event. The match will be gel saturday with the awards ceremony at dinner saturday nite. Sunday will be a fun shoot, for guys who decide to stick around for the weekend or guys who are in the area to come and stretch their rifles. There will be a Target at 1200, 1400 and then one at a mile just for the heck of it. The main event with meals and competing will be saturday.

Ok Thanks!! Sounds like fun. I will see how things are going here. Would love to come but I will only have pea shooter to bring. I am selling my 338 so down to the 300 win and the 6 br until Shawn gets my LRKM done.

Jeff

Bring the 300 and get some good angle practice. You may ask shawn if he is coming, I thought I may have heard a rumor that he may show.

Have you sent Royinidaho a p.m. on this? He's old, & doesn't see too well anymore, so he may have missed the whole thread. Plus those Superglue fumes do a number on a guy...:D

He'd sure be fun to have attend that event. I really wish I could go!
