Got the call this evening: my gunsmith is starting work on my .300. I want to order 100 new cases and get them all prepped up for when it arrives.

Who is making the most consistent/best .300 RUM brass right now?

Thanks.

I have used the Nosler custom brass in my 300 RUM and I had good groups using it . Another plus is you have very little prep time with it . On a negative note tho , I couldnt load it hot at all because it would show pressure signs finally someone on this site tld me that the Nosler brass is softer than the remington brass thats why I was getting pressure issues with it. I have started using remington brass and its been pretty good thus far. Good luck with your decision.

Correct me if i'm (it's happened once or twice:D), you might try the search function here but, IIRC there is a thread discussing the introduction of 300RUM brass from NORMA. If so, that would be a better choice yet.

If not, Rem brass works just fine, I'm using it in my 338RUM. A little more work, but seems strong enough.

Bigbuck, I have discovered the same thing in my RUM with NC brass. Very consistent and nice stuff but it is softer than Remington. My rifle seems to be the most accurate when at max load and the NC shows pressure signs sooner than the Remington brass. Rem brass for me will require neck turning and flashing hole tapering in addition to the regular prep steps before I am satisfied with it.

^^^^^ Me too! I just use the Remington in mine and it shoots great! It's cheaper and my local guy stocks it. Needs prep as stated above but that's a part of reloading.

Another thing that sold me on the remmy brass was that Shawn carlock uses it and if it is good enough for him then its good enough for me:) If you guys havent bought his reloading video it is a great watch . Also has one hunt at the end. Sorry didnt mean to get off topic from the post but felt it was worth mentioning.

have a good day!

I'm with alot of these guys, Remington brass is better suited for the max loads I feed my RUM. Primer pockets loosen up after 2 firings on some of the other stuff and also pressure signs. I sometimes get 5 firings on the Remington before I have to put it in the recycle bucket (but some of it has to go after only 3 firings too).

BTW, has anyone ever tried the RWS brass? If so is it better than the other brass we get for the RUM or is it about the same?

I've heard very little about RWS, but the little I have heard has all been well into the positive. Are they offering RUM brass? I must have missed that....

I thought that I saw some a year or so back but I may have been mistaken. I thought that I read that they have runs of it from time to time... again could be my mistake, that was alot of reading gone by and my memory has glitches from time to time... :D

Norma just released 300 RUM brass. I have some on the way and I will be using it in a 7 RUM. Hopefully it will as good as the other calibers of Norma brass that I have used. I will post a review when I get a few firings. I have been using Nosler and Remington brass thus far and I have to agree that once I sort, neck turn and prep the Remington brass, it's as good or better than the Nosler

I know this is an old thread but is Remington and Nosler the only choices for brass? If so, is Remington the better choice? Thanks for any help!
