White oak

I know they use some Shilen blanks others also. If you see a barrel you like or want more info on one contact them they are great folks to talk to.

The White Oak Armament barrels are Wilsons. They are quite good. A lot of the high power rifle competitors use them. They are fully capable of taking you to the stage at the National Matches. I and many of my friends earned our Distinguished Rifleman badges with them. That being said, John will use any barrel you want. My last 2 were Kreigers. He has also done a bunch of Pac-Nors and a Shilen for me. The work has been consistently first rate.

He is 3 weeks behind on my order and it took 2 emails and 3 calls to get.anyone. i hear they do good work but i would have just paid $80 more for a noveske if i knew they were going to be late and less than helpful.

When i ordered my Varmit Upper they said it would be 12 wks. and that's what it was. Talked to them twice before i ordered, with no problems.

Bear in mind, you're talking about being a month and a half out from Perry; John's kinda busy right now. We had our State Service Rifle Match in St. Louis the week before last, a match that John and company have usually attended in the past. They didn't make it this time, and it's likely that a heavy workload is why. You're dealing with a guy who is himself a competitive shooter, and caters primarily to the competitive shooting market. Send him work in November or December, and don't be surprised if it shows up done in very short order. Send him work three or four months before the Nationals, and you're likely to get caught up in backlog.

Shooter65,

What are you looking to do with your AR?

That is the most important question. I wouldn't have LaRue build my competiton upper. Likewise, I wouldn't ask Holliger to build a zombie zapper. That being said, if White Oak has the barrel profile/length/twist combination I am looking for, that is who gets my business. I cannot even estimate the number of barrels/uppers I have purchased or had others purchase from White Oak.

That may be true but when you give a customer a quote on time then stick to it. You work for lapua, if you promise me some brass or ammo in a time frame dont you think you should deliver on that promise? Promise and then perform on that promise.....simple.

Target shooting and hunting. Mostly targets. I want a very accurate upper.

You might want to check out the White Oak Precision site. That is the custom side of the house. If you want a barrel other than the White Oak Armament Wilson, that is where to shop. However, John himself will tell you that he now shoots a WOA Wilson for competiton.

Either way, White Oak can build you an upper that will serve you very well.

PS I have shot about 25,000 rounds through 9 different service rifle and match rifle barrels from White Oak. They are top notch.

I ordered my 26" Varmint upper on Dec. 29, 2011. I got it 12 weeks later. Wilson barrel. The two Armalite AR10Ts that I have use the same Wilson barrels. They are fine shooters. My WOA upper has exactly 201 rounds thru it. I had not cleaned it since 98 rounds. ZERO copper, and just powder fouling. I might have used six patches to clean it. The average size for ALL groups shot to this point is .866". This is all load workups. So far the winner is 23.0 gr. TAC, CCI450 & 75 BTHP. That group measures .376". It'll get a little better.
