Recommendations for bbl break in on my new AR

Hey guys, I have a new Colt LE6920 that I am going to pick up on Monday. I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a barrel break-in procedure and any necessary tools to do such. This is my first black gun, so I'm not sure what the standard operating procedure is for breaking one in. Thanks in advance.

A barrel is a barrel. They should all be broke in the same (in my opinion) I always do- 1 shot=1 clean for the first 10 rounds, then 3 shots=1 clean for the next 10(ish) rounds. For break-in on my ARs, where I'm not crazy concerned about accuracy, I'll use a bore-snake. If you're not a bore-snake fan, I'd use a bore-guide and a one-piece rod. I know alot of people who don't do anything for AR break-in, but it doesn't take that much time, and to me any added accuaracy at all that you might gain, seems well worth the time and hassle.

Thanks for the advice. I am familiar with how to use a bore guide on my bolt gun, but not familiar at all with how to clean an AR. Do you have to take down the AR to get the bore guide in? In my bolt gun I just take out the bolt, but not sure how to achieve the same thing with the AR, or does the guide work from the muzzle end?

A) Go to the range, with the rifle.
B) Load the rifle.
C) Shoot the rifle.
D) When you're done, clean the rifle. But don't get crazy about it.

Keep it properly lubed (which again, means don't get crazy about it), and it'll run just fine. You're dealing with a chrome lined bore that was never intended for match accuracy, in a rifle that's not set up to deliver match accuracy. You're worrying way too much about this. Just have fun with it.

And yes, you'll need to break the rifle down ("shotgun" it)) to insert a bore guide. Never clean from the muzzle, ALWAYS from the chamber.
