Well I now have everything but the action now. I have to wait until the end of June to the beginning of July for Stiller to finish the action. It is driving me crazy waiting! I can't wait to start shooting that thing. The dies, brass and bullets are just sitting on the reloading bench begging to be used! I will get pictures put up when it is all complete. Will also do a thread on the reloading and test load process.

Thanks a lot to Tikkamike and Broz for all the PMs that we had about this build. You guys helped me out a lot. Broz, i just ordered that Red-Tac rear bag that you mentioned inf your thread "The importance of being solid". I have been looking for something like that for a while now but was apprehensive about getting something that wasn't very user friendly.

Congrats! I can commiserate with the wait as I have about a month to go till my 338 project is back from the smith. I've been reading everything that comes up on here about big bore projects so I hope you will post as much info as possible.

Thanks

Jack

Which barrel and stock did you go with? DBM, single shot, etc? I'm building one as well and would like to hear about yours as I'm just starting to gather parts. Thought I was going to go with a Surgeon 1581xl but decided to go with Defiance instead in order to get CIP length mags.

I went with this setup:

Stiller TAC338 single shot
Hart 26" SS barrel with 6 flutes, 1:10 twist, Sendero contour
McMillan A3 w/adjustable cheek rest (magazine area is filled in since it is a single shot)
Jewell trigger
Badger ordinance max 50 rings
Nightforce 5.5-22x50 w/ZS and HS turrets
CSR muscle brake slabbed 4 ports

Will be shooting 300 gr bergers, lapua brass with H1000 if it likes that combo.
Using the Redding match set bushing dies with the competition micrometer seating die.
