Been looking at specs but not had the oppotunity to look through good scopes. I am after a scope that will do 1000 yds + Here is a list i have looked at
Swarovski
S & Bender
Leupold Mk 4
Night Force
March
Input would be appreciated.
Cheers

if you go with swaro make sure it has enough internal travel to do the job your wanting to do. the 1inch models probably dont.

id add votrex to the list but most of your scopes should do the trick

The cal. is a .300 Supermag(improved 30/378) should fire a 225 grn at 3450
Pigs, goats and deer at 1000 to 1500 yds
Yes we would have to compensate for wind and elevation.

Is there that much of a difference between the two (tac and hunt) ?

jake50 needs help.

I suggest a tactical scope with at least a 30mm tube with the highest magnification you can get that has a low magnification you can still use at short range in timber if needed. You will probably also need a 20 moa Picatinny rail too.

I use a Vortex 6-24x50mm PST FFP MOA scope with zero stop and illuminated reticle plus a custom turret.

I see some have x30 ,x42,x50 up to x80. To shoot at 1500 yds would u need one of those listed ? I dont want to spend $2-3k+ and find its not the one i want , there will be no shooting at close range (200- 800yds) as we have a 30/378 for the close work if needed.

I would like the zero stop type scope or similar.

it's an apple and orange kind of thing,

tactical scopes tend to be build to a more rugged and more mechanically consistent, which also means heavier for the most part. they usually have adjustable turrets, some type of ranging reticle, be it in mils or moa, or some type of hold over type reticle, like the nightforce velocity series.

hunting scopes tend to be lighter than their tactical counter parts, usually have a simpler reticle, or a hold over type reticle, and usually have less adjustment.

Thanks for the Info, sounds like a tac scope would be the choice as weight is not a problem with a 20lb rifle. Would the Nightforce fit the bill 8x32x56 NSX?

I'm still waiting for the Leupold VX Vl's to hit the self, 4-24 sounds like the perfect scope for anything, just add the B&C recticle and your set.
