Need some advice

I am new to the forum and to predator hunting also i have recently purchased a 223. And love it! I was thinking of going with the fox pro spitfire and mojo critter for a setup anyone care to share their expirence with fox pro? Also what is a good round p.s. i like exit wounds

My buddy has a spitfire that we use along with mouth calling. Seems to be a good unit so far, but we've only tried it a few times. It's becoming our go-to when they won't respond to any of our mouth calls.

My setup is a fox pro wildfire and a mojo critter. I've even had the critter attacked before I turned on the call. To this point I haven't needed any additional sounds but they can be easily downloaded. I also mix in some hand calls as well. I don't know how you could go wrong with that setup. Just remember that the deeper that you get into predator hunting you'll always be wanting the bigger and better mouse trap.

+++ I agree 100%. The FoxPro will definitely bring them in, but for best results use it in the same way as you would a mouth call. What I mean is don't let it just keep going and going. Shut it off in between calling intervals for a couple of minutes on lower volume. Then after a couple of times doing that you SCRAMBLE call for 45 seconds at high volume. There is a technique for using an e-caller too. The mojo critter is awesome, because once they see it, you almost can't do any wrong.

Forgot to mention the bullet. For my 223 the Vmax was the most accurate that I have used. but I only have a 16" barrel on my AR so couldn't get the speed to even blow apart a p-dog. I have nice exit wounds with Sierra 55gr. varminters.

I use the same setup (16" Ar, Foxpro Spitfire and Mojo), I don't consider myself a expert by any means but I do love all 3 and they work better than anything else I have tried. The only thing I would change is the spitfire seems to lack volume in those wide open areas. At least it seems quiet to me but twice it brought in coyotes from over a mile away. If you can spare the money I think one of the more expensive foxpros would get you the extra volume and would be worth the money on those windy days. That being said the spitfire gives you a lot for your dollar.

Hi Nathan223, set-up sounds great... just add a few decoy items and those dogs won't be able to resist. In Alaska ALL furry things are season and bag regulated. Some areas more so than others. No coyote shooting from May to August... hides are too valuable to 'shoot and release' in the off season. I use a Savage in Ruger .204 with 32 grain hp and chest shoot. We have a growing number of wolves also and at $400.00 to $1,000.00 for prime pelts I switch to the 40-Grain Berger HPBT for deeper destruction on the plumbing. Whole furs, not furs full of holes bring in needed income for a lot of us so we try to avoid exit holes even if it means a missed shot. Montana decoys canvas coyote full-color are so irresistible to old Wiley they almost seem cheating. Try them set out with a chicken or turkey wing hanging from a limb or pole over them ( check with Game regs first ) next to your FoxPro speaker. Put the decoys at 90 degrees to one another so Wiley has a full-body view from any angle of approach, get settled down 30 to 50 yards away with a clear field of fire to the decoys and be ready to shoot BEFORE you make your first call. I've seen them come so fast that you have to on track or they will literally tear-up your set. Young and dumb are easy ones to take any time... old and wise toss everything out the window when they see feathers and the silhouettes. Unbelievable to say the least. I use the FP Prairie blaster, with the included decoy, and or with my quiver critter if on uneven terain. The volume and control is outstanding. As for a .223 load, the 55 gr. Vmax is a great round if you liek the exit wound, but if not, the varmint grenade is awesome, with dead right there performance.
