.220 Swift using 80 gr. A-Max

I am considering re-barreling my Ruger 77V, .220 Swift , 1:14" twist , to a new Shilen 4 groove Ratchet-Rifled , 1:8" twist barrel in .220 Swift , in 26" or 27" length .
My intention is to shoot 80 gr. A-Max bullets , to have higher B.C. , allowing me to shoot accurately out to 1000 yards . I hope to be able to get 3200 f.p.s. or faster velocity .
Hornady customer service told me that the A-Max bullet would easily handle 3700 f.p.s out of a 1:7" twist barrel .
Do any of you , LRH members , have any experience or knowledge with a fast-twist barrel in .220 Swift , or .22-250 , using the longer , heavier .224 bullets ?
I am open to suggestions on load-data , or , constructive criticism of my choice of the .220 Swift . My main reason for this cartridge is that I have 1000 rounds of brass in .220 Swift .

my first build was a 22-250 1-8 shillen h 4350 powder 80 amax deadly on coyotes very accurate lost accuracy at about 1700 rnds. go for it , i would do it again.

A couple of my friends built .22 BRs using 1:6.5" Pac-Nor barrels. They shot 90 gr JLKs at over 3000 fps for across the course and 1000 yard matches. Worked quite well.

Do you remember the volume of powder , type of primer , velocity attained , and barrel length used on your rifle ?
It would help as a starting point for load development for the .220 Swift .

If your looking for opions, I would get a 22-250 fl die and a 3 die 22-250 ackley die set, reform your 220 swift cases to 22-250 and fire form them to ackley. Cases will last longer and can be run at higher pressures. You can push a 80grn amax easily at 3250fps with H4350, RE17, or Ramshot hunter at about a 40-42grn charge depend on throat length and seating depth. Also go for a 7.5 or 7 twist that way you can also shoot 90grn bergers at about 3100fps. Makes for an awesome deer cartridge with heavy bullets if the deer in your parts are 150lbs or less.

I used a 22-250 with 75 grain berger vlds on top of 36.5 grains of imr 4350 to win some matches out to 600 yards. This load ran about 3375 out of a 26 inch tube. I could not get the hornadys to match the accuracy and consisentcy of the bergers driven at that speed. My barrel was a 9 twist and it went tits up at 1600 rounds, but it shot bugholes until the day it went. I am still using that barrel shortend to 20 inches and threaded for a suppressor.
