I understand that this has been discussed but I am looking for info based on actual field use. I am looking for one that will range out to 1800 or further consistantly but do not require the ballistic program in the g7(although it Might come in handy). What are some ranges you guys have gotten in field conditions on animals and/or trees? Which would you buy?

Thanks, Mike

I think that if you are needing to range 1800 yards consistently, you will need something more than the BR2 or Leica 1600. You will probably need to get a Vectronix.

Vectronix Terrapin is the solution, buy once and range what you want to range when you want to range it. I've gotten the Leica 1600 out to just under 2000 yards but it was better than ideal conditions, 1600 is pushing it in normal use.

This is spot on. I own a Vectronix PLRF10 but would now buy a Vectronix PLRF05 (Terripin) if I were to need another long range unit.

Do you guys know where I could get the terrapin without waiting 3-4weeks or longer? And I am still considering the Leica1600 and BR2, out of those two which would you pick?

Mike, the 1600's are going for $650 and the G7BR2 is like $1600. Hard to compare as the G7 has more to offer in the MOA program it offers. But if I was only buying for the ranging distance info they both give I would go for the Leica. It will range most anything with in the distance most any of us will take game. But the fact the G7 will spit out corrected moa dial ups has a definate appeal.

Just depends what you want from an RF. But if you want to range way out there with a reliable Rf to past a mile in any light conditions with the smallest beam divergence.... Go Vectronix.

Thanks a lot Jeff, my brother and I are both looking for one. I may order him a BR2 for the ballistics and myself a Terrapin. Do you happen to know where to get a Terrapin without waiting to long?

Mike
