I have in excellent condition Remington Model 700 Classic LE .257 Roberts which was made in July 1982 according to the barrel stamp. This gun has been hunted with rarely less than 200 rounds closer to 100 rounds if that many out the barrel! I took the wooden stock off in 1995 and replaced it with a Remington "plastic" stock that has been glass bedded and floated. I do have the original stock, it was taken off to protect it. It has a few minor marks on the wood from the safe prior to changing it out. This is the long action version, but I think all the 1982's were Long Action? Please help me out if you have credible infomation..Thanks

there one of the more desirable classics. Probably the most looked for ones are the 300 h&h and the 257. Ive seen shooter grades ones start at about 500 and nice ones go for up to 800. One of the nicest platforms for a 257! If it were mine i sure wouldnt be worried about a price as it wouldnt ever leave this house.
I don.t plan on selling it, I just saw on one of the "other" forums where someone sold one like it for $1100 and I guess that shocked me! This is an awesome shooting little gun,,,I call it my "8 point" gun. I have killed several deer with it and most of them are 8 pts. I knew that there were just over 6500 of them ever made, therefore I changed out stocks.

smart man. Hold on to that gun! Wish i had one myself. Ive had a number of 257s mostly 77 rugers that shot like crap. I just picked up a #1a thats a pretty good shooter. Probably my favorite round when i know the range isnt going to be much past 250 yards where im hunting.
I had a Remington 700 in 257 roberts that myself, my dad, my uncle, and my aunt all shot our first deer with. About 10 years ago some low-life broke in and stole it along with a couple shotguns that were also handed down. That 257 was a sweet shooting, fun to carry gun. Still makes me angry thinkin about whoever stole that gun.

As a retired Police Lieutenant I sure hope that it is listed in NCIC!!! Don't give up! I once had a boat broke into while camping,, took all!!! 9 months later a guy working for me stopped a car around 2 am,,,he got a consent to search on the vehicle and I found my stuff....proved by a 20 yr old home made worm my dad had made!!!...Anyway, next day went to broading county and did a search warrant, found an entire SHED FULL OF STOLEN FISHING EQUIPMENT!! So never give up!!
I HAD the same rifle in .257 Roberts, a Rem Classic, with about 100 rounds thru it, perfect condition, and I sold it about 5 years ago for $650. It was the second in Remington's old time classic line. (The first they offered was 7x57). I'm still crying.
The guns were stolen from my mom's house as I was in college at the time. I know that a police report was filed with Tucson PD and I followed up with the officer for the first year afterwards without any luck. Also regularly hit the gunstores and pawnshops since a .257 roberts isn't the most common gun to be coming and going. I was told that it was very like that the guns were in Mexico since it is so close.

In 2011, I acquired a Remington Model 700 LE in a 257 Roberts at a gun show in Pennsylvania for, oddly enough, $1100.00. It was billed as am "unfired" 1982 model. The barrel, from the bolt area (where "REMINGTON" appears) to the end of the muzzle had been etched in oak leaf and acorn clusters. The stock on which it was mounted is also engraved with the same - in the forearm and butt (behind trigger guard) areas. It came with an accompanying unfinished wood stock said to be the original. To be sure. it is a pretty piece and would look good in anyone's cabinet. And so I am now trying to determine it's actual value. I am now not sure the accompanying stock is the original nor is the one the barrel is mounted on since I have come to understand that all 700 Model stocks are supposed to exhibit classic black on the barrel end an butt. This one has the classic checkering but nothing blacked and on the inside there appears the letter "B" (also on the serial number - for BDL I think) and the number "11" stamped in the wood. The B is in either black paint or ink. I would appreciate any help on determining the actual value of this piece. Thanks!
