215 gr 338 winmag

It'd work fine, especially for your ranges. Accuracy should be good. But, the BC is pretty dismal. There are better choices. Most of us are running heavier bullets in our 30 cals. I suggest the 225 or 250 Nosler accubonds. Hornady has several 338 bullets in this class with a better BC as well. I like the 300 Bergers, but the winny is a bit small for them.

You're welcome. What are you planning to hunt / shoot with them? How's the hunting up there? I spent a week fishing on the coast a few years back. Truly beautiful country.

Is the sierra 215 gr bullet good for shooting out to 600 yrds?rifle has 1/10 twist 24" barrel.

I tell you, if you can get the 225 gr. NAB at a muzzle velocity of 2850 fps and at an
elevation of 5000', at 900 yards you would still have 1700 fps of bullet velocity
which is fast enough for good terminal ballistics and would have an energy of about
1500 ft-lb which is, in my opinion, good enough for a large bull elk. The Sierra 210 gr.
would be good to about 770 yards for 1500 ft-lb of energy.

The 225 NAB would help you with about 6.5 inches closer in a 10 mph crosswind at
770 yards and much more at 900 yards.

Good luck!
