Help me tame my 6.8

I know this has been asked a few times, but I'll rehash it one more time. I need a break for my 6.8SPC, and maybe a Vltor A5 system. I'd like my wife to be able to use it for yotes and closer deer, but after 2 rounds, she won't shoot it again till I tame it a bit more. My barrel is threaded 5/8-24 and uses a 308 sized break. I'm running it with just the thread protector now, and it's really not too bad, but momma doesn't agree:D (she's been spoiled with big heavy bench guns). I thought about about the OPS break, heard good things reguarding muzzle rise and felt recoil, but bad as far as the bark goes.

I figured I'd ask the serious AR guys here what y'all thought. I know they all make a rig bark worse, but some seem to be better than others. This is a hunting rig, so it'd be nice to skip the ear plugs once in a while(I know you shouldn't, but it's a risk I'm ok with if I can find something that isn't super loud) I'd like to take it off completely when I use it anyway.

Then there's the matter of the Vltor A5. The wife did a little research on her own and seems to think it'll be worth the $$$, but I'm not so sure. I like their stocks, so I might just get the whole system anyway (plus if momma's gonna let me spend some $$$ on a gun without being ****y about it, it's a win-win) The rig is just over 8lbs, scoped and loaded, and I'd hate to add a bunch of weight just to tame it a little, so what'd ya think?

Any input is welcome!
Thanx
Cody

Had one of the older Vltor mod stocks HATED IT? My facial hair keep getting caught in the litte slots IT SUCKS? I would either look at the LMT SOPMOD or the MAGPUL ACS.

On the Brakes look at the BATTLECOMP,PWS or the sure fire they all make one for a 6.8spc.

I'm really supprised she has issue woth the recoil

ICANHITHIMMAN- Yeah, I was too. But she's really never shot anything semi auto and just isn't comfortable with it yet either. She's only recently started shooting with me at all, so we're still taking small steps:D. This is the most recoil she's ever felt, and I don't want her to develope a flinch, so I told her we'd mellow it out a little more. We're slowly working her up to a propper hunting caliber. (I'd hate to see what she'd think of a hot 338 load LOL.) I think the ACS might be the way to go, just the improved comfort over the A2 outta help it feel lighter. Have you run the both the Battlecomp, and the PWS? If so, what were your thoughts on both? PWS was already on my short list.

Plus this guy is almost big enought to shoot it.

You may try a heavier buffer if you don't want to use a brake. If your gas port is a bit large, it may be allowing excess gas to push the carrier back at an increased velocity. A heavier buffer can help to tame the recoil down a bit.

I think that's going to be the way to go. I might try the Vltor A5 just for the improved/heavier buffer.

I am using Vltor a5 system on my Bison 20" with MSTN brake. Very tame with very little muzzle rise, but it is LOUD.

Without a brake I can understand that she would have a recoil issue, not to mention muzzle control with rapid fire....

I use a Surefire on my Barrett, works well, but you can have one made that might do even better.

BTW Good looking weapon

Thanx, Ben at Bison Armory puts togather a nice upper. It shoots just about anything you feed it well too. 120gr SSTs just keep shooting the same hole all day.
