This is the situation I have a ss rem 700 la mag action with a jewell trig & ptg firing pin *** sitting in safe I am wanting to build a 270 whby mag or sell action & buy a sako 75 grey wolf in 270wsm can't decide which is the best road to take ?

Oh that's simple . Sako 75 for sure ! I had a 270 wsm and the difference between two cartridges is what a 100 FPS ? A Sako is a better action then the Rem.
 
257stw, as you know building you get to pick the parts vs buying a factory rifle and I prefer to have something build.

My 270WSM is on a Win (WSM)action with a Lawton fluted barrel @ 26" long and my 270 is on a Rem action with a 25" Lilja barrel. My almost finished 270Wby is on Rem action with Mike Rock barrel.

Only problem with the 270WSM depending on what and who's bullets seating depth can be a issue. The 270Wby won't have the Wby freebore and headspace be on the case shoulders you use less powder you start about 10% less and you get about same velocity.

I've always like the 270's and with the Matrix 165gr VLD hunting bullet might be a nice combination in the 270Wby.
