Reduced loads in 7mm-08 with H4895

I know that hodgdon has reduced loads for 7mm-08 with H4895 but i want even slower velocities and they said you could reduce the normal maximum charges by 40% but they mentioned cast bullets. Can this 40% reduction rule be used with a 140 grain ttsx.

Most likely, but watch your speeds, use a ballistics program to determine the max range for that load.

I say this because with the TTSX bullets they need at least 1800fps on impact to open reliably, and from personal experience with these monolithic bullets, that will barely open them. My guess is, to get full opening, you'd need at least 200fps on impact. So find out the MV of your load (real MV not what a book says) and figure the point where it drops below 2000 and I would call that the max range for that load.

If this is for a youth hunter, be sure to watch the accuracy. I haven't had very good results with these loads and a 223. You might want to consider a smaller caliber loaded to normal levels if recoil is the issue and you do not get satisfactory numbers from these loads.
 
this load wont be used for hunting i just want to test the velocity at which the ttsx expand down to. At the moment i only have acess to a 100 yard range so i want a mv of 1900-2000 so the impact velocity at 100 yards is around 1700-1800.
