New to hunting and would like a instructor.

Im 22 and lived in Kansas most of my life. Recently got into hunting and would like to gain as much knowledge as possible. I kinda wanna hunt some coyotes right now and was wondering if anyone would mind putting up with me and instructing me on every aspect of shooting and my rifle..btw my rifle is a *** remington 770 30-06, i know. But i gotta work with what i got.

If you were closer we would be doing some basic stuff this afternoon. I am a certified trainer in rifle, shotgun and pistol as well as a range officer and hunter ed instructor. Although I am to far away to give you any personal tips I will advise this. Find the nearest gun or rifle club in your area. If you havent already, you really should take the hunters ed course. The one we put on is awesome and hunters of all ages take it. That is a great way to meet local shooters and hunters. Get involved in the club a little and find a hunting buddy. It will make all your experiences more fun.

Practice at this club range and sharpen your skills as much as you can. Remember coyote calling can be tough or easy. Sometimes they come running in and sometimes they never show. Stick with it. Persistency really pays off in this sport.

Thanks for the offers. Yea i took hunters ed, and no one i know hunts. So lately i been reading lots and lots of information on everything.. Now i just need field experience which sucks without a buddy who at least know the ropes.. Guess ill just have to teach myself everything..

oh btw. I recently installed a bipod on my rifle. But since the whole stock is made out of plastic. My swivel that i attached the bipod to broke.. Now i dunno what to do to make a customised swivel for my bipod. Since there is no aftermarket stocks for rem 770. any tips or advice on how to install a swivel for my bipod to attach to? my sling is also attached to the bipod. So without that front swivel, i cant get a sling attached..

They make long swivel studs with a special flat nut to go inside the stock. It is common for the studs to pull out and these are designed to fix it. You may have to do a little inletting inside so the nut does not touch the barrel, but once installed it is much stronger than origional.

Not sure on clubs. But we have a bullseye shooting range here. I asked them if they could fix or customize my rifle. N they told me no.

I was thinking if you joined a club and attended a few meeting you might find someone to shoot with. Or go to the range and shoot, you might meet someone to hunt with there too.

Just a thought.
