A fast & wicked pair of sisters - more knives!

Finished these up last weekend. Everyone that's laid hands on them can't believe just how fast and light they are - VERY deceptive in relation to their looks!

One's a bit plain, while the other is obviously pretty racy - easy to see the fact that they're siblings, though. Each blade is just a pinch over 7 inches long, with an overall length of 12.5 inches. Both are 3/16" 1095, have tapered tangs and gorgeous wood and ito, and were heat treated with clay - but with very different coating methods.

The first provided all the flash - best hamon I've ever managed (with one upcoming possible exception) and Amboyna scales:

The next two shots give you a decent view of the sori that both have - such great curves!

This one's got a simple, straight hamon and curly koa scales under her wrap. I think it's understated, but elegant:

Yes, I do sell them. However, I don't take orders. This is a hobby for me, and I don't want it to become work. If you're interested, though, the piece here with the koa handles and the plain hamon is available.

I use a Wilton Square Wheel that I've modified the snot out of trying to make it something it isn't. I have every intention of buying a Bader B-III (best customer service on the planet, and great machines, too!).

I have been researching all I can I this one seems like it's the most versitile and I like the slots to configure tool rest options.

Wilmont Grinder

I am going to build one that is somewhat close to this design but I am not sure if I will go through all the trouble of making the tip over flat option. Have you ever seen/used one of these grinders?

I've never seen that grinder in the flesh before, but it looks like a good design and well built.
My experiences with Bader are numerous, entirely positive, and offer more than enough flexibility for me. The only other machine I would likely consider would be the Weurtz TW90, and even still I'll likely choose the Bader just because of the customer service I've received from them - without ever even owning one of their machines!!

I should also mention that I'm no longer willing to make, alter, or modify my machines to achieve an end result. Too frustrating, and rarely works as well as getting the right tool to begin with. I have very little free time as it is, and if I get the chance I want to spend it making knives, not wrestling with the tools!!!! The expense means less to me in the long run than the effort and time it takes to make it work, I guess.
