Ok, so DrVette has all but talked me into trying out a Wby Vanguard for my latest rifle purchase. I'm loving the idea of a sub MOA guarantee on a rifle under $575 that I can sexy up with aftermarket parts.
So I go to my local sporting goods store to place my order, and guess what....
300WSM is unavailable. Same for the Howa (I was simply curious). Store #1 said they could find me one some way, some how. I absolutely love the Awesome customer service of that store, so id prefer to spend my $ there, but I decided to check out a couple other stores just incase.
3 stores later ALL of them have the same news. No go. Aparently the whole WSM lawsuit is still having an ugly effect on availability from some firearms companys. Many simply don't offer the chambering so as to avoid the lawsuit all togather.
I'm a bit bummed, but, on the bright side, I guess it just gives me another excuse to buy another Model-70. Everyone knows I'm a Winchester nut anyway, but I was "guinnea pighing myself out" because mamma wants to Elk hunt next year, & I have 3 youngn's to buy rifles for over the next few years. Figured id give the Wby a whirl, but now I guess it'll have to wait.
Anybody have any idea where this lawsuit is, & or when it may end, & to what outcome? I'm kinda ****ed! I already had a beautiful stock picked out, & had researched rings, mounts, trigger ect. Grrrrr!

What WSM lawsuit? First I'm hearing of it.

From what I here, some wildcatter/writer named Rick Jamison, or something (no, not Rick James haha), "pattented" or somehow got the rights to the design before Olin-Winchester introduced the WSM case with nearly identicle dimensions. There's been a lawsuit for years. Maybe strictly royalties. I dunno. I'm Soooo far removed from the real story I have no idea what's true, & what isn't.
Everytime I think it must have been settled, it rears its ugly head again.

Maybe ill just save my $ & wait till somebody posts a Model-70 in 300WSM on the LRH classifides, & buy a package deal. Who knows.
I'm just "irrked", cause id already gone over what I wanted to do to the Wby 100's of times in my head, & now this stupid lawsuit thing again...! At least that's what I've been told by 4 different sporting goods stores is the reason.

My local store usually has two or three WBY's in 300 or 270 WSM. You can get them all day long for Savages :D:D:D

Smart ***. Even if they had sexy aftermarket parts that'd be like puttin lipstick on a pig.:D
But in your defense Savage guys, the new Thompson takes the crown from you in the ugly department.:D man that thing is hard on the eyes.

Are the wbys s2's? Or the older ones? I may P.M. You for the stores name depending on how this whole thing turns out.
I did give into temptation, & fondle a new FN Model-70 in 300 win, but that whole belted case thing.... I just sold my Model-70 300wby, so I could get a 300WSM..... I need deeper pockets!:D

I have the new FN(Mod 70) in 300wsm its great and its also an option.

Ya, my 2012' Winchester catalogue is on its way!:D
I do love my Winnies, & that was my origional first choice. It wasn't untill I got caught up in the whole "under $600" thing with Sub MOA guarantee that the Wby caught my eye. Researched em. Asked tons of questions to folks who owned them, & figured I'd give em a whirl. Mamma wants to put in for a cow tag this year, & I have 3 kids that'll need to be outfitted up in the next few years, so low cost, & accurate was appealing (when combined with aftermarket support for churchin it up):D I may be kinda vain, but its gotta look sexy & shoot good too.... At least untill I hunt with it, & scratch the snot out of it:D but I can always say it started out sexy. HA!:)
Well see what happens. If the sporting goods store I want to use can find me one without tons of hassle, I may still go that route. But as of right now, I'm lookin for another Winchester just incase.

just get a M70. I want one in the Extreme Weather SS in 300 WSM. hey when you figure that "deeper pockets" thing let me know. My pockets are a little shallow too....

you know you could just get a Remmy, I know that your a M70 guys but a guy can get used to the RUMs real fast.:D

As a certified savage NUT.........pun intended............they shoot beautifully and nothing I shoot with mine ever gets to see the rifle anyway. It is what is inside that counts. So by that definition they are beautiful.

They are the not the latest model, but WBY shows the WSM's available in the latest Vanguard. I'll poke around and see, the story owner will give me the straight goods.

I heard he was getting $50/gun royalties for guns chambered in WSM, is this true? If so, manufacturers will have a hard time offering them in their lower cost products.

Get her a Tikka!! yeah fat chance, I am with someone above that said get the extreme weather... problem is you would keep it for yourself cause those things are bad ***...anyway did you check gunbroker?
