I bought a new one while we where in Jackson hole,WY on vacation. After getting home I'm not sure there is enough room for my gun. I think i would have been better off getting the Tactical one instead of the hunting pack. I was told the Tactical J107 has a larger opening for you rifle to slide down in. Has any one r does any one have one of these?????

Does any body want to buy a brand new hunting J107 still has the tags on it. So i can get the Tactical one????????

What rifle do you have? I got my brother a J107 Dragonfly pack a few years ago. I purchased the operator model knowing I would use it for a 15+ lb 338 Lapua which would require a larger scabbard. My brother can snuggly fit his rem 700 VSSF with Leupold MK4 10x in the scabbard. It fits snug enough that it won't shift around, but just barely fits. I think it is meant for more traditional style hunting rifles that are not as bulky as our "long range" rigs. The J107M has the bigger scabbard similar to my operator model. It has more than enough room for my Lapua with 56mm objective NF on it. Eberlestock makes great packs. Hope this helps.

My rifle is a 338edge 34" barrel NF 5.5x22x56 Harris bi-pod around 15-16#'s. It fits but its tight It will work but if i knew then i would have gotten the one with the bigger opening

I have the J07M, it carries my 338 edge 30"barrel, 5.5x22x56 nf, with harris bipod, with lots of room.. Still no easly chore to get it out, with pack still on your back, like they say it is...jmo

I purchased a J107M last year (only way to get one with multicam). I have a Sako .375H&H custom build with 26" barrel and 40mm Leupold on top. There is not an EXCESSIVE amount of space with that set up. But, I do not have any problem drawing it out. If you want a lubricious amount of space for your rifle, you might want to look at the Eberlestock Gunslinger. I just looked at one at a local gun shop over the weekend. Almost the entire width of the pack is open for a weapon. (10 to 12 inches). And, with the Gunslinger, the wide butt cover comes with it. It would have come home with me, except it was "tactical black" which just ain't my cup-o-tea...

I went with the blue widow and added the tactical weapon scabord to it, it works great for my savage 26" barrel with my nikon 5-20x44 and harris bipod

J107 Eberlestock dragon fly at the LRH Store.

My brother has the hunting version of the J107 and his Tikka T3 in 300WM with a Leupold MK4 6.5-20 and a harris bipod fits in the scabbard. Snug but it fits.

What do you lose in the J107M to make room for the larger scabbard? Do you lose the place for the 3 liter water bladder that is opposite the scabbard on the hunting version??

I might be wrong but i dont think you lose anything in my blue widow i have everything the j107 hunting version has and have lost nothing its just a bigger opening.

The bottom of the scabbard on the J107M is wider than the hunting version so you can carry your rifle butt down if you want.

On both versions there is a vertical pocket sewn into the scabbard that you can access from the side of the scabbard through a long zipper. If you look at the scabbard from the top - the pocket takes up one side of the scabbard and the other side is open for your gun. The pocket is narrower on the J107M so there's more space available for your rifle. That's the only difference.

I use the tactical dragonfly n it accepts my AR10 scoped n my custom savage w/ scope 6.5x20x44 w/stockade stock n 25 in Lila barrel.
Fit it my operator pack too.

Jeff,

What is making it "snug"? The Harris bi-pod or the scope? The bi-pod can obviously be removed for packing; not the scope.

Alan

probably the the bi pod but i don't really want to take it off i have it on there nice and tight and if a shot was to present its self i don't want have to be putting my rifle together.

Jeff,

I had a problem with my Photobucket the other day and could not post some pics that may be helpful.

Rem 700 with 26" barrel and Mk 4 4.5-14 in a J107.

Shows height of turrets on rifle.

NF 5.5-22x50 on in conjunction with AICS stock; about 10" tall from top of turret to bottom of pistol grip, IIRC.

I can carry the rifle muzzle up or down in my Gunslinger II.

The GSII scabbard is cavernous!
