What high BC 223 coyote load for 500 yards?

hey guys i just bought a 223 tactical SPS with a 20" bbl toped with a 6-18x40SF MD that i know how to use..i would like to get a good long range coyote load out of this. im being told to shoot 55gr. soft pint boat tail so i can get penetration on a texas heart shot. but i can only get around .250 BC with this and i we get wind around here so i was looking at the JLK LD line of bullets and the Nosler 69 Gr BTHP everybody loves. im just getting into reloading and dont have much money to spend so i wanted to see what what people with expirence have gotten so i dont have to spend money and time trying to find a bullet that works.

shoot the 75 HPBT or 75 Amax in it if it is the 1 in 9

Black Hills ammo sells the 77 SMK, the 75 HPBT, and the 69 I think.

yes 1-9 twist.. i was also looking at the 70 gr. berger VLD.

depending on your mag, you will be limited using the Amax and VLD bullets.

if you want to switch bottom metal, you could load them out. Otherwise, you will make your repeater a single shot.

The 77 SMK, 75 hornady hpbt and similar will work great in the factory mag box and shoot great.

You need a bigger gun! Why do so many keep asking so much from so little a caliber. 5.56/.223 is pretty much a varmint cartridge, as a weapon - not ment to kill ,but wound . Why does everyone expect it can kill anything ? Their are bigger & better calibers for shooting deer .

Last I checked coyotes were considered varmints not a species of deer. hahaha

thats what i was thinking.. and i got a very good deal on this rifle otherwise i wouldve gone to the 22-250 or 6mm.

thanks for the replys guys they are appreciated as im try to soak up as much info as possible with this to make the best decison for me. i was reading on here that after 1800fps the target hollow point doesnt perform very well because of it not being design to expand. therefore i was trying to stay under the 70 gr. mark so i didnt loose velocity.

If wind is an issue you should have gone with a 243 or 25-06 in my opinion, but you have what you have so shoot the heaviest bullet your twist will stabilize.

we do have calm days but generally its around 10-15 mph.. but sometimes its 35-40 and i just stay inside on them days.. im just looking for a good solid 500 yard 60gr.-75gr. bullet that i can drop a yote with if i do my part. i am looking pretty hard at the 75 gr. BTHP from Hornady. and the 70 gr. VLD Berger and the JLK LD 60gr. and 65 gr. like in the article i read on here.. the ar-15 and the little scoe that could i think?

I shot one at 570 w/ my 223 and 69 smk. h335 powder, mine has the short bull barrel. I also shot a nice cross fox w/same rifle, real cool looking with the black.

75 gr. A-Max fueled by Varget or N140 in a Lapua case ignited by a match primer will get you there and then some. I get 2980 fps from my 24" tubed .223 thinking you should get 28+. Maybe the fellow with the wounding comment should tell that to a bunch of Gook's and Hadji's! Dang, they might even come back to life!

The 9 may stabilize the 75 gr Scirocco's. Around 23gr Varget was where my SL-8's sweet spot was/is....~ 2XXX fps....I have 8 twist(Edit,,,,I think the FPS is a typo in my notes.... I was working up loads but it the number quoted earlier was too hot a load. I think 2650-2700 fps is more accurate after I backed down.)

Good BC for caliber, but I do not recall it off the top of my head and it is not in my notes.

I have wrestled with Scirocco's in other calibers but the 223 seems easy to load for and they are a great hunting bullet. FOR VARMINTS

One of the things you may want to consider is bullet expansion at that distance. I recommend asking people's opinions about which of the recommended bullets will expand sufficiently to prevent pass throughs. Would be better to anchor a coyote rather than have it run off. Getting a second shot @ 500 yds on a running "dog" is not an easy task.
