I have a Kimber 84m. When I bought the rifle the safty could not be put in the safe postion. The trigger
pull was set at 1.13 lbs. . I thouht that was the problem so I set the trigger at 3 lbs , that did not help.
What do I need to do to get this safty working ? Thanks for the help.

the problem is most likely with the firing pin- to sear contact
if its a 3 position saftey like on mod 70's
your tryng to compress firing pin spring with the saftey lever-
its like tryng to pull it back further into the cocked position
with the short little saftey lever
unless you can add couple thousands to firing pin where it contacts sear
you need a new firing pin
if you do add some metal here the timing is critcal
to much & the saftey will engage - but when its released
it will act as a trigger releasing firing pin
dont ask how I know
easy enough to replace pin your self
other than that its time to see a smith

Thank you for the relpy -
Just today I was trying understad the problem when I pulled the safty a little harder the I would a model 70 safty and it worked just fine . I kept working it the same way and it seems to work just fine,
just pretty stiff.

Check the inletting in the stock also. Sometimes it interferes with the leaver or other parts of
the trigger. Work the safety several times and remove the action and barrel from the
stock and look for marks where the trigger may interfere.

Just another thought.
