I'm looking to get a new 308 to do some long rang hunting and shooting with without spending a ton of money. I like the Tikka T3 Scout and the TC Icon. I'm fond of the Tikka T3's smooth action and usually good out of the box accuracy, but not so much the factory stocks. The Icon has a great action and decent accuracy, and I like the integral bases. Any input or help would be appreciated.

I'm looking @ a TIKKA SCOUT myself. Already have a T3 in 300wsm, with a B&C stock on it, shoots better than I do. 5 shot touching.

Never shot the Tikka or the Icon. But I did get to handle the Icon at a sportsman show recently. I like the trigger and the bolt throw. Lift on the is a little stiff. I would hope that it would smooth out some as you shoot. There are a lot more aftermarket parts being made available for the Tikka now that it is becoming quite popular. Just for that reason alone I would go that direction. However I am a Savage fan, so you may want to look at their law enforcement line of rifles. They handle well, and they have a cool model in .308 that comes with the bottom metal that accepts AI magazines. It also comes with a one piece base and threaded muzzle for a suppressor. If you don't want or have any intention of a suppressor, then you can use the same threads for a muzzle break if you want to go that route.

Welcome to LRH too!
