Hey there, I'm new to this forum...been very impressed so far with the knowledge floating around here

I am looking to pick up a savage 111 in 7mm RM. Would like to upgrade the trigger (as it is not accutrigger model) , the barrel and the stock. Any recommendations for parts in Canada? Thanks

Any suggestions for building with the purpose of occasional hunting but mainly for bench shooting. Thanks again and great job on the forum

I have a model 111 in 7RM with the accustock and accutrigger. I replaced the barrel (unfired) with a McGowan 26" SS match in varmint contour (.8" at the muzzle). I have a NF one-piece 20 MOA base with NF ultralite rings and an NXS 5.5-22X55. The gun shoots great, but I am going to replace the stock with a McMillan soon.

For occasional hunting with more bench time, I would put a 284win match chamber in a 9 twist 28" McGowen, CBI, Brux, or Shilen, put it on the 111 also, just get one in 270 or 30-06. The 284 will push 168 bergers at 3050fps and the 180s just over 2900fps, and will have twice the barrel life of a 7mm rem mag.

Not to hijack, but how does the 284 do so much better with barrels? Only asking because I don't know.

Less powder volume.

As far as the OP. Get an SSS trigger: Savage Competition Trigger Savage Trigger SSS

For a stock, look at Stockade Stocks: Stocks Also take a look at the lift kit that is offered. It smooths the lift of the bolt some.

Barrels, I prefer Lothar Walther. It is German stailess. They use a 550SS vs the 416SS here in the states. I have been rather impressed with the ease of cleaning and accuracy after break in. Good luck on your build.

Thanks for all the input guys. I am really looking forward to get going on this. gun)Any ideas of dealers in Canada or members that are in the area?

The best forum in Canada for this is canadiangunnutz. They have the sponsors you are looking for. Mystic Precision and North Shore Barrels would be my choices, but there are many others.
