Considering a new scope for my 30-06

I currently own a Nikon Buckmaster 4-12x50 and while I do like the scope I have found that my hunting land has shorter shooting distances and more hardwooded area so the need for a superzoom scope is not needed and the deer are coming quite close to where maybe a less magnification scope might be ideal. I am toying with the idea of either a Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x50 or the Burris Fullfield 3-9x50 with the E1 reticle. Now I have always been a Nikon fan and never ventured out to see what else is around. Does Burris make a quality riflescope? I do like the idea of a bullet drop reticle and the E1 reticle also has 10MPH crosswind dots, I just do not know if it is a gimmick or the real deal. I thank you all in advance for your input.

When you get down to 3-9 power scopes, it is pretty hard to beat the Zeiss Conquest which can be gotten very reasonably.

My Burris scope experience is dated so I can not respond to your actual question. But if you are open to it, I love my Zeiss for woods carry rifle.

The 3x9 Zeiss Conquest would be a great scope as would a 2.5-8x36mm Leupold.

don't try, just buy the Nikon. You will not regret it.

I had a nikon Monarch and I did LIKE it but I wasnt sure I loved it. When i sold the rifle it was on I sold the scope also and my current Buckmaster is def not as vibrant as the Monarch

I've owned a few Burris scopes. Two 3-9x40 bplex reticle, & a 4.5-14x42 A.O. with a Bplex. They are the absolute toughest most durable scopes I've ever beat the heck out of.
I love em. In fact I still have the 4.5-14 on my 270 wsm, & even after being rolled over by a mule....TWICE! & a few stumbles & rough landings over the years, plus airline rides (& handeling) it still holds 0, & tracks perfectly.
I'm from Oregon, so naturally I'm a Leupold freak! But if $ is tight, & I can't afford my Leupold, then Burris gets my money everytime.
I've owned a few Nikons, in the Buckmaster, 3-9,standard duplex & 4-14 Bdc. Then the Prostaff model, with duplex Reticle wich still sits on my custom 10/22.
Bdc circles drove me nutts, & sold it immediately after my first range session.
Bang for your buck scopes put the Burris FF-II & Nikon Buckmaster in a simmilar category, but the Burris is way more rugged, & I personally prefer the Bplex reticle.
The new E-1 reticle reminds me of my Leupold VX-III's Varmint hunter duplex, but Burris with 10 mph windage only. I'll be in the market for one of those for my -06 in the next year or two.
