Tried to buy a cooper but couldnt.....

I went to my local dealer today to order a cooper excalibur in 280ai. As i was in the store i had a change of heart.

I couldnt bring myself to spend 2k on a rifle. I know plenty of you guys here have way way more in your rifles than this but i just couldnt get myself to do it having never fired a cooper before.

Will i regret spending this money on the cooper? Or do i bight the bullet now and just get it over with?
 
Do it. You will not regret it! I bought my first Cooper a while back after observing and trying several owned by shooters at my range. While it is a factory rifle, I really think of it as a custom. Extremely accurate, impeccable workmanship, fit, finish, trigger, etc. I only wish I had bought one sooner than I did.
 
Owner is no longer there, the employees bought the company.

I spent $4695 on a custom Cooper Westerner Repeater, AAA walnut, case hardened inletted sling, neider butt plate, 270 win, best money ever spent on a rifle. Almost to nice to hunt with.

So I just ordered a new one synthetic, stainless 26" barrel, 6.5 creedmore, super sweet.....$1900.....cant wait to get her....

NO you wont be disappointed, by the time you buy a win, rem you bed it, do load development ect......may as well buy the best:D

No one on this planet believes Obama is more incompetent, and rejects his political beliefs more than I do, but you may be short of a few facts. Before Obama even came on the scene, Dan Cooper already began pursuing other interests. He did support Obama. Who knows why, likely he contracted dimentia. The employees of Cooper Arms never supported Obama. At that time in 2008 negotiations began and in 2009 Cooper arms was sold to Wilson Arms to become Cooper Firearms of Montana. The management of Wilson Arms/Cooper Firearms of Montana are strong supporters of pro gun politicians, and the NRA. The emplyees of Cooper deserve recognition for producing one of the finest factory rifles in production. In my opinion it would be unwarrented and unfair to not buy a Cooper for the reason you cite.
 
One of the local gun shops has or had a cooper 6.5X284, it was the single shot bolt action, man that gun was so sweet, but didn't have the $1,700 to buy her.
But then if I had that kinda money to spend I would just save some more money and buy one of Kirby's guns.
 
I agree with your political view TimeOnTarget.
But I think your concern about the cost of a Cooper is weak.

Coopers are an excellent investment, no matter the angle taken from.
You just don't need to worry about the gun being good,, IT IS.

My local dealer (well 6hrs away) seemed very knowledgeable and had some special make up guns on order that he said he would customize to my specs.

excalibur rifle with jackson hunter stock in green/black web with 26" barrel 2.5lb trigger.

Swaro z5 3.5-18x44 4a reticle on top.

This is my biggest $$$ purchase of a rifle.

Hope it lives up to its name. Only cooper ive ever held was in a scheels a few months back in varmint configuration.. Thats the only thing that makes me wonder... I never buy big $$$ items without spending some quality time with it first.
