I am new here and I have been reading and have a new Remington 5R 300win mag coming my way. I plan on using the rifle for deer hunting here in Ga and will be taking it to Kansas and the west for hunting big game.
It will also help trimour hog and coyote population here in Ga.
I have decided on a Burris Black Diamond 4 x 16 x 50 for the rifle and it is on order, the man at the gun shop wants to use the extra high Leupold rings for the sccope, and I am unsure. Burris recommended the high mounts for their scope.
What rings and what height would you use on this rifle? I appreciate all the info.
Also I am a big guy and do lift weights, so I do know this will be a heavy rifle.

It depends on what base you use. If you use a 20 MOA canted base you'll most likely need mediums. If you use standard Leupold bases you'll need highs.

I would recommend not using standard bases with the windage rear. Look at getting a picatinny one or two piece setup and some decent rings to go with it.

Thanks Brent! It does help me to look in the right direction. I did speak directly with Burris and they also guided me that way.
