I am still looking for a scope for my Savage in 6.5 Creedmoor. This will be my first try at longer ranges with a tactical style scope. I am looking at the Viper PST, Sightron and also the Leupolds. Was wondering what the difference is between the ER/T and the LR/T? I am looking at the 6.5-20x50. I think I want the TMR reticle and MOA adjustments. Then again I would not know the difference between MOA and MIL

The LRT is the more common variety in use, and it's a good long range scope.
The TMR is a very precise reticle, I like mine.
Some people want the adjustments to be the same as the reticle, meaning that if you got the TMR reticle you'd also want to get the 1/10 mil adjustments.
Realistically, that only matters if you are ranging with the reticle and/or calling shots and corrections via the reticle. It's a speed and convience thing, not absolutely necessary to have them match.
I personally prefer MOA reticle with MOA adjustments if I have the choice.
If the ER/T model is FFP, then it will be more expensive, but you wont have to use the scope on a certain power for the spacing to be as advertised.

The main difference is the ER/T scopes are front focal.
Which scope do you have? Do they make an MOA reticle for the Mark 4?

whatever scope you choose, i would do matching adjustments and reticle. mil/mil or moa/moa, it's easier to have matching adjustments. i shoot a viper 4-16 pst with mil/mil, out of the listed scopes that would be my first choice for an entry level tactical scope. you might want to look at nightforce as well if you want an moa/moa scope, not only that, but they are tough as nails and optically would compare favorably to the other scopes mentioned

Mine is the 8-25X50 LRT M1 with TMR reticle and 1/4 moa adjustments.
I dont think Leupold is making anything with moa reticle, but I heard Hollands will retrofit a moa reticle to these scopes. I am debating with myself about sending mine off to have that done at some point.
I also shoot a Sightron SIII. Personally; I prefer the optics on the Leupold better,now that I've used them both for a season, but the Sightron can be had in moa reticle with moa adjustments. The Sightron was under $800, the Leupold was about $1200 if I remember correctly. Nightforce makes an excellent LR scope too, but you'll pay $1600-$1800+ for one.
That is what I am afraid of. I think that is going to be the one that I want. I need to go look through both the er/t and lr/t to see what they look like at different powers. I am also thinking this may be too much scope for my 6.5creedmoor.
I have the Vortex 6-24x50mm PST MOA with a Vortex custom turret. It also has an illuminated EBR-1 reticle. It will do everything the other scopes will do for about half the price. I also think it has one of the best reticles out there. I almost forgot the turret clicks match the reticle. MOA / MOA or MIL / MIL. gun)------------------------

That is another one that I am looking at. Still trying to decide between FFP and SFP. Thing is my brother can get really good discounts on Leupolds. Although the Vortex would still be about $150 less.

I'm starting to get a pretty sizable stable of Leupold products, including a coupld of MK 4's. The first is a 8.5-25x50 M1 w/TMR. The TMR is a fantastic reticle, I usually dial elevation & hold for wind using the TMR, problem is dialing in MOA & Holding in Mils, not impossible but awkward at first. If you hold for both ele & wind you can use mils for both (obviously). Price $1300ish (IIRC)
The second is a MK 4 M5-A ER/T. 6.5-20x50 FFP TMR, 34mm tube, zero stop, rev counter, 1/10mil adj-10mils/rev. locking ele turret & ~120mins of ele adjustment. This scope is an absolute beast, I'm seriously impressed.
Price $2200-3000 Depending on reticle choice (Horus available).
Leupy has finally stepped up to the plate with the M4 M5-A. But as you can see, it's expensive, I don't know anything about the Vortex & if the M5-A keeps performing the way it has, I never will.
IF you are truly going to use the reticle for target ranging or wind holds, the FFP is going to be the better bet as you don't have to worry about what power you're on. If you are comfortable with "powering down" to use the reticle (nothing wrong with that) then you can save some coin with the SFP.

I got to look through a Mark4 ER/T and LR/T today. I can see how the ER/T with FFP would be better for closer ranges as the reticle does not take up the whole lense. I thought the glass looked pretty good too. Seems alot clearer than my VX3. My VX3 seems to have a slight yellow/orange tint to it. I have yet to find anyone local to me that has the PST in stock. I would like to look through one. I can download the instructions on Vortex website as to how to use the PST reticles. Seems fairly easy to do. Vortex says the MIL is better than MOA but I am better with standard numeric over metric. Anyone know a link on how to use the Leupold TMR Reticle? I can't seem to find it on there site.
