The gun was a 2011 shot show gun. It has grey laminate stock with a stainless fluted barrel. If you happen to know of where one is, please let me know. Thanks

I actually called Browning about these a few months ago and they informed me the only ones that exist are those that were ordered at the shot show, they were a specail run deal and dont plan to make any more. I would keep an eye on gunbroker they may pop up

I don't understand Browning's logic on their Shot Show Specials. I called Browning looking for a stock for a X-Bolt Varmint Special and they said that they didn't make them but gave me the info for the company that did. I called the company that makes the stocks and they said that they had problems making the stocks and still hadn't done it production yet. What really confuses me is that I've seen a few Varmint Specials on sell in the local classifieds and they all had stocks, how's that possible if the stocks aren't even in production? hahaha

Good luck finding a Long Range Hunter cause they look freaking sweet. I just wish the average guy could find and buy their shot show special firearms.

Yeah the shot show guns are just crazy hard to get your hands on. I called a browning rep and they told me that some have shipped and gave me the names of stores that got them. I call the stores that they gave me and they tell me they haven't even got them yet... Oh well I guess this is a hopeless battle.

Guess today was my lucky day. Went to drop some deed meat off at the processor which is a pro shop as well. Low and behold they had the 300 ultra on the shelf. It is a fine gun. It is sitting in the safe now!!

I'd think about buying a lotto ticket if I were you....hahaha
You'll have to let us know how she shoots. How does she feel?

Man I really like the way the gun feels. Got the trigger job done on the rifle. It is a crisp 2lbs and have the barrel clean and ready to mount scope and break the barrel in. I have never been just a huge browning fan. I have had two abolts years ago and one shot lights out and the other wasn't a great shooter..

Very nice looking rifle! I know they made Abolt-IIs in 300 and 338RUM some time back, when the RUM was the chambering to have. I have another odd RUM, a model 70 stainless, and it can drive nails at 200yards. Anytime I see a RUM in something other then a remington, I have to smile.

I managed to get a browning A bolt LR stainless in 300 RUM. I'm not a big fan of the synthetic stalk and want a laminate one. Does anyone know where I can get one?

I don't see any for heavy barrels.
Call them to see if they have a more open channel available as they may. It looks like the apache at stocky's may be a good one if you are a righty. Another choice is to open the channel yourself or have a woodworker you trust do it if you don't trust yourself doing it; I'd call first and confirm the fore end is big enough to open up before you buy it though.

Yes I will call both after the holidays. Ive compared my normal sporterbarreled a bolt stocks tothe long range and there isn't enough meat to channel out for the heavy barrrel. Ive read stocky's tech pages and that makes me think their sporter stocks won't work. Calling is the smart thing to do. Thanks
