Attaching sheath knife to pack belt?

Anyone have any good or nifty ideas on hooking a sheath knife to your pack's waist belt. I have an Eberlestock and there are webbing loops on the belt. A knife sheath typically has a belt loop for threading a belt through. Just wondered if anyone has an idea better than a carabiner?

I have the same question for a pistol holster. Best idea I have there is to use a left side IWB holster with a metal clip and just use the clip through a loop on the right side of the belt.

When I was in Iraq i purchased a nifty knife sheath (Spec-Ops brand) that would probably work for you. The belt loop portion used heavy-duty snaps for a 2.5" belt, or you could strap it in the webbing of a pack.

Play with some different size electrical ties - the long plastic chinese finger type. I have a number of accessory pouches attached to my pack belt with them.

Not really what you are asking, but with my J34 I carry a spiderco endura with the pocket clip clipped through one of the loops with a little piece of nylon cord through the hole in the knife to pull it out easily. It can ride far enough to the front of the belt not to hit against the rifle stock when I carry my gun slung this way also. Any other knives go inside the pack.

I just got a Havalon Piranta. It has a pocket clip and is just the right side to fit snugly through the loops on the pack belt.

(And, speaking of a J34, I'm pretty sure I'm going to NEED one of those before next Fall! )
