Problems with 338 lapua fps

I recently bought a new savage 110 FCP/hs 338 lapua and have worked up some really accurate loads for it, but I can't get my fps to get above 2550fps before the bolt starts sticking. I am currently shooting h1000 at 91.5 grains , 300 smk , oal 3.760 , cci bench primers, and cheap Hornady brass. I am going to order some lapua brass when I get some extra cash.
My question is shouldn't my fps be higher than 2550 with this load out of a 26" 1/9" barrel? And if so what am I doing wrong?

That doesn't sound too far off really. Also how far out are you seating the bullets. Pressure tends to go down as you seat the bullet further in the case.

I am setting the bullet out as far as I (3.76)can due to the clip. It about .03 off the lands

i like
300 gr SMK moly
98 grs Retumbo
Fed 215M
Lapua brass
Barrel 27.5
Velocity 2865 fps

I am shooting 87 gr. retumbo,300 Berger otm, fed 215, at 2725 out of a 338 Norma. Which is 5-7 % less case. This is a accurate load and 3-4 gr. under max in my rifle

I think so. I would guess you would be closer to 2700 ~ 2750 with that load.

I would say you have a lying chronograph. They do that you know quite often.

That's what I figured too but it works out too with bullet drop

Looks like I need to get some retumbo

My laod for a 27 1/2" tube 1 in 10 twist is 92.5 gr H-1000 , 300 Berger and a CCI 250 this is right on max for a summer day. Vwlocity is 2805.

I have shot this load for years with the 300 smk too. H-1000 is my choice. The loads I practice with in the summer are the same that I hunt with in the cold. Have taken game past 1100 yrds on more than one occation.
