Anybody know what the difference is. I'm looking at the 6-24.
One is around 500 and the pst is 900ish.
I'm not a "serious" tactical shooter, I'm shooting a sendero 300.
Hunting mainly up to 700 yd and would like to target shoot close to 1000yd just for fun...
Thanks

There's actually quite a bit of difference in the features. The Viper HS is not available in a 6-24 version, it is second focal plane only, has no illuminated reticle, and has 1/2 MOA adjustments on an exposed elevation turret and 1/4 on the covered windage turret.

The Viper PST are available in the 4-16 and 6-24 power, available in second focal plane or first focal plane($750-$900 depending on the focal plane you prefer) and they have 1/4" exposed turrets with an illuminated reticle

These are just a few of the differences.

The viper HS is "nice", but the PST is "nicer". I have mine with the FFP Mil reticle and love it. I'm about to buy the second one. I would only look at the HS if I couldn't afford the PST.

I have had a chance to be behind both the HS and the PST. Clarity and tracking were identical IMO. There is some variation on the MOA come up between the two but I saw no problems with either.

Unless you are hung up on an illuminated reticle I see no reason to go with the PST for almost twice the price. In fact for me I have no desire for an illuminated reticle - One: I have enough problems in the cold in the back country trying to keep batteries going on a range finder, camera, head lamp, flashlights etc. and don't need any more problems (When do batteries go dead?). TWO: In some States an illuminated reticle is illegal - for some some reason I thought our sister State of Wyo. was as such. One of you knowledgeable Wy. guys set me straight please. THREE: I much prefer the physical size of the HS versus the PST. I don't think that much of trying to put a PST in a rifle scabbard on a horse/mule and see if my electronic lighter upper works after 20+ miles.

I do not own either one of these scopes but did help a couple young guys just starting out in the LR game get their rifles/scopes up and useable.

Bottom line - Both are good scopes IMO. Get what fits your needs and never look back. I was impressed enough with the HS that if I needed a scope I would have no problem going with one of these.

PST is FFP, has a choice between mil/mil or moa/moa. The HS is a bdc set up. A lot of
difference between the two.
