So I know this has been covered, I remember reading threads on it in the past but I dont have time to look through ALL the threads on here and I can't search because all of the key words are too short....Anyways...

Which of these cartridges is better for the larger 30 cal bullets such as the 210 and 200's and why?

I have a 300 WM but my magazine is so small that these bullets are seated way deep in the case. I want to have a repeater so just saying load as a single shot won't cut it. So I thought about maybe building a 300 WSM on a long action to have plenty of magazine length for whatever seating depth I want.

The 300 Winny has more case capacity (IIRC, 10 grains more) so you'll get better velocity with the 300 Winny. Regardless, the simplest solution for you is probably just to install a longer magazine box. What action are you using?

Great awnser just want to add that the bullet weights you mentioned are more middle weights that heavy weights.

I currently shoot a Ruger 300 WM but I'd like to find a Sendero to start working on or I may just build one. Will the Wyatts work with the Ruger?

Also, is there a Wyatts made for a Weatherby Mk V?

Better bullet selection for a 300 WM.

what? Same bullet selection for the WSM. both are 30 calibers.

the WSM will take higher pressure and gets equal if not better MV to the Win Mag. Winchester factory ballistics give the edge (not by much) to the WSM in fact. So case capacity is moot and not indicator.

Both will run neck and neck. Both will easily run 210s at 2850 to over 3000 depending on the gun, barrel and which powder.

2850-2875 is the accuracy node most 1k shooters use for the WSM BTW, but there is a higher node from 2950-3025 also.

On the WSM, MRP will give the higher velocities normally.

.

They would have the same bullet selection if they both had the same space between the cartridge mouth to the available magazine length.
The SAAMI SPECS are
______________300 WSM______300 Win Mag
case length_____2.090"_________2.62"
cartridge_______2.860_________3.34"
ogive room_____0.790_________0.72" advantage .07 for the 300 WSM
with a 3.600" Rem 700 or SAKO__0.98: advantage .19" for the 300 WM

In a custom rifle you can easily combine a 300 WSM with a longer magazine for shooting low drag bullets. The problem is no manufacturer offers that in a factory rifle that I'm aware of.
