Wolf brass reloading

Has anyone ever reloaded Wolf brass? I am thinking about buying some Wolf Grendel ammo because it is so cheap, but if the brass isn't suitable for reuse, then it's not such a deal.

You can't reload it if it's the steel cased berdan primed rounds.

If they're truly brass instead of steel or some sort of plated steel you should be good. Some people even report getting at least 1 reload out of steel cases but I haven't tried that myself. For example, Blazer Brass reloads fine and the box even mentions it IIRC. Of course they ARE brass cases.

If they're berdan primed you'll need a setup to remove those and then berdan primers to replace them with. Check the box... maybe it'll say if they're boxer primed and/or ok to reload. Don't try to remove a berdan primer in the usual fashion. You'll break things and get frustrated.

The Wolf Gold ammo is made my Prvi Partizan and the Brass cases are really good, at least in 7.62X54R that I have loaded many times. If you can find the same ammo by Prvi it is usually cheaper than the Wolf brand.

If it is the NNY headstamped brass from wolf gold ammo then the brass is top notch, and yes, I would certainly recommend reloading it. In Grendel I would bet that is what it is. It is all I use in 6.5x55. That said the rim is usually thicker than other brass and you may have to improvise in finding a shellholder to hold it properly. The only problem I have had is it slipping through my shell holder when sizing due to the thick rim, and having to use a larger holder. Good case lubrication has solved this.

Good to know! I have some .300 Winnie brass from Wolf with the NNY headstamp but haven't messed with it yet.

FWIW, and before seeing your post, I did check and it's boxer primed. So it's GTG.

I am reloading the steel cased 223 by the THOUSANDS. and although you will have to set up your dies slightly different as it "springs back" different than brass..........

Im sorry but I do not know. You see I don't seperate my brass and keep a log book like some do.

All my empty cases, brass and steel, end up in the same pile and get inspected prior to reworking them.

If they are bad I toss them, if they look good I reload them.

I could not tell you for sure how many times I have reloaded the steel cased ones. More than once and less than 4 times is a solid "estimate".....

PS I DO however only load my "just in case magazines" with new brass......the rest of the stuff is for playing or practicing....
