What primers are you guys using in the 7mm SAUM with RL25, H1000 and Retumbo? Heavy bullets.

I'm using Fed 215s with Re 22 and the 162 amax or 160 gr Accubond. Probably not needed, but they were the first ones I tried and they worked like a charm. I also do some hunting with temps in the teens or single digits so I like the added insurance.

Thanks Chris,

Right now I have 215s, 210Ms, 200s and WLRMs on hand. When I broke in the gun, I used the 210Ms on the belief that the cartridge just doesn't burn enough powder to require magnum primers. I took the 180s up to 62.5 gr RL25 without pressure signs in Remington brass. Since I loaded those rounds my Nosler brass came in. It is 15 gr heavier than the Remington. It will also hold 1.5 gr more of ball powder.Since I will likely need to start over completely, I can change primers without problem.

You say the Nosler brass weighs 15 gr more than the RP and yet it still holds 1.5 gr more powder? That is not usually possible, at least from what I have read. Is that a Nosler case that has been fired and FL resized with the same die that you used to FL resize the RP brass?

Got to be careful to compare apples to apples. As you note, starting over is pretty much the way to go, regardless it its accuracy or speed you are looking for. Each needs to be brought up with the same line of cases, preferrably lot and weight too.....

My bad. It holds 1.5 gr less powder. I should proof read better. Both were new cases.

The Reminigtons were weight sorted and prepped. The Noslers are all one lot.

I used Winchester Large Rifle Magnums in all my loads when I started. Had good luck and haven't changed. I may try some STD LR primers as my current hunting load is 139grnSST over RL-17. Most likely would be okay with either. But shoots good enough and have harvested several deer over last 2 years.

Had very good luck with 162gr bullets over both H100v and Win780. Will stick with magnum primers for those.

I have not loaded RL-25, H1000, or Retumbo in my 7mmSAUM. I have used RL-19, RL-22, and IMR-7828, and with these powders I have used only WLRM primers when loading this round. However, if I were to load RL-17 I probably would use a standard primer. When I am following loading data I try to use the same primers that were used when the data was worked up.
